What the hell? What's been good about it so far?

Its been ok. It's a pre season game on a poor surface in an extremely humid country. This isn't gonna be some overnight revelation, relax.

Defence struggling to distribute but thought Townsend and schlupp been great. Can see why de Boer targeting so many defenders.

I'm forever grateful for what Delaney has done for the club, but he is no longer good enough in my eyes. Some good individual performances but nothing dramatically different from last season so far. Milo looks like he'll be key again and Zaha and Townsend are going to rip a new one for some PL fullbacks this season.

Gap between LCB and left wing back was our main weakness.
We don't have the players to play out in the way FdB wants.
Hennessy was s***e.
Delaney past it.
Anderson not good enough.
Dann, Luka, Andros, Wilf, Benteke all quality.

1)Agreed...all 3 should be closer together when the ball is in the middle of the park...hence Dan being isolated

2) Again agreed the Reideweld should help address this

3)Agreed

4)Agreed

5)Agreed

Having said all that though..this is the Scousers 3rd game in what is a pretty settled squad against our who are playing their 1st.

I'm positive

Not bad for a first game. In spite of the Wayne haters, he's looked good except for one punch-out. This is not the back three we'll be seeing once the season starts. Commentators said Cabaye isn't fit enough yet, no word on Tompkins. Salah for them has been an eye-opener.

I really don't see why we need to change that much. Keep it compact in the middle then attack with our front 3. That's when we play our best footy.

It's to try and progress as a club but we've played far more defensively than most would expect anyway. Either way I'd say it would be best to hold off judgement for the time being and remember we've limited them to not much. Good to see Zaha finally being given a more free role the cut in from the left and play off the striker, I've said for years that's what he needs to really get the best out of him, rather than so many managers who've tried to make him an out and out old fashioned winger judged on how good his crossing ability is.

Essentially FDB is living up to his promise...he's looking to change things bit by bit.

We look like a BFS team when the oppo have the ball, but when we have it, we're looking to beat the man breaking through the lines before then looking for the pass....encouraging.

I'd take nil nil in the 2nd game of the season, when we play them next!

Good to see a methodical manager, building it slowly and interested in signing a few defenders. Such a big difference from the "let's be avin ya" hoof to Bolasie and run Pardew type s*** that was supposedly "progressive".

He is one of those players. Appears hopeless... until he is out of the team. Provides that anchor or gel or solid base or whatever on which the rest of the team tnrive.

Truthfully I have no idea what he provides... but it seems to work. And successive coaching teams seem to agree.

Interesting that there hasn't been any comment on Schlup. Thought he did pretty well considering how alone he was and how little support he has had.

1 and 2 This is a new system and Delaney in particular is finding it hard
3 Hennessy made one mistake and one good save. He is the best we have at present
4)Thats why gap between LCB and LWB so great
5)He had 1 half chance and looked lively. I think he can make it given support
