How many kids were on in the second half, let's wait and see how he plays with all the first teamers in.

None until Phillips on the hour, Kirby for 20 minutes and then Wan-Bissaka and Ladapo for the last 15 minutes.

I got to be honest. I am nervous about 3-4-3

I wouldn't worry just yet. I think even into the first few games of the season we will make errors playing this system and people will panic. But, at any stage we can revert to 4-4-2 or 3-5-1 as these are tried and tested systems, meaning, we have learnt a new one, giving us the plan C that we never had.I'm not saying it's going to be a world beater if we haven't got the personnel to play it, but give it some time.

playing 3-4-3 does bring in a different thinking around our squad.
With Joel Ward playing RCB rather than RM/RWB then we currently have 6 CB including Jairo Riedewald coming competing for 3 places.
We only have 1 RM/RWB in Andros so need another. Wan-Bissaka perhaps.
We have 2 LM/LWB.
We have 7 CM (excl Mutch) for 2 places!!!
Luka, Punch, Yohan are automatic choices plus from what I've seen Ruben should be too.
Upfront we have Zaha and Benteke filling 2 of the 3 places.

Townsend is no wing-back and needs to be played where he does his best work, opposite Zaha with Benteke in the middle.

You are correct bexleydave. And I have no doubt it will be this way come the start of the season. Either that, or Andros will be on his toes to another club. Newcastle maybe?

Does 343 suit Zaha. His best position is wide on thd right.( Not sure why he played left yesterday). But surely if you're playing 343 the 2 wide players need to play closer to the center forward and the wingbacks push up wide. This certainly didn't happen yesterday with Benteke looking very isolated.

Wilf and Andros tend to switch in games from the left to the right.
In fact I would say Wilfs best work is on the left.
Play of Final penalty as one example.

Found this very interesting the strengths and weaknesses of 3-4-3 and how it was used by Ajax in 1970's

Fair enough but not many first 11,Delaney won't play nor Kelly, and if the Dutch guy comes in I very much doubt ward will either.
I would imagine it will be against shalke that we see our nearest to a starting 11.
If by then we still don't look good I will become a little worried, but until then I let the manager manage.

What was noticeable was the lack of chances that we created in both games. I dont think it suits CB who was marginalised in both games and never got a sniff. Luka looked far better than Ward on the right but he has said he doesnt want to play there. I can also see Townsend throwing his toys out of the pram again if he is forced to play wing back

3-4-3 seems to be a fad that every team is trying out because it worked so well for Chelsea.

But we beat Chelsea away and they only scraped a 1-0 win at Selhurst.

Our wingers will expose teams that don't play full backs. I think we should stick to the current formation.

Nobody saw Moses as a wing-back !

And Chelsea had both Matic and Kante who gave them both drive and protection in the central midfield areas.
And of course it freed up Hazard from defensive duties so he could utilise his strength in forward areas.
Also the back three had pace and were mobile.
