If this deal happens, I'm reassured that FDB knows him. The guy is not a fool so must believe that the player either has what it takes for the premier league or will have. When a defender has real pace, they don't need to be as clinical as a player without as they have that bit in the tank to get back and correct their error - seen it a few times with Schlupp already. More bodies are desperately needed and we have to accept that the price range that we will be shopping in this window due to the spending in January, will mean we are not signing finished articles and more potential. I'm just glad FDB is doing it not Holloway. It's absolutely amazing how far we've come that we've now got someone of FdB's ilk at the helm.

Far from it I'm just as pleased about them as I am him. All part of the great journey. Slightly confused about what point you're trying to make. I was simply saying how happy I am with how far we've come...

Amazing though how short some people's memories are and how you still see people bitching and moaning especially on twitter. Makes me wonder, either they are the same age as my son who has only really known Palace as a prem team or they are newbies or maybe just deluded?!

Seemed like a great signing to me when PVA was out basically meant our defence didn't fall apart and we stayed in the division. But hey everyone sees everything a bit different. Game of opinions and all that. Glass half full or half empty. Waste of money or prudent necessary investment. Not going to argue with you over it. But I'm delighted he's in our squad.

I remember the dark and desperate days of falling into administration, starting the season under George Burley with only six players...puts it all in context. This is the first preseason since then we can think about having a squad that approaching being PL ready. It shows maybe how much of a journey players like Speroni, Ward and Delaney have been on,

Agreed. Schlupp was a decent signing for me. He has been man of the match on more than one occasion and was Sam's starter in preference to PvA
