If we were to sell Benteke and therefore not sign Sakho many Palace fans will be asking why they bother.

I think fans are missing the point if we quote them 65m, then they will asses options from abroad, who are cheaper and have a similar quality to Benteke. Everton has already spend loads and can't see them shell out 60+m on Benteke plus siggy and demari gray. There's other options that are cheaper that the package they'd have to offer Benteke.

Indeed, but they have just sold Lukaku for a few of £75 Mill rising to £90 Mill so I suspect that their 'Net spend' is hardly anything.

My contact at Tottenham tells me about the "One of us" players that made their squad last season in various competitions ie Harry Winks, Anton Walkes, Kyle Walker-Peters, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josh Onomah etc etc.

I don't deny he a good player but 30m for someone with maybe 2 to 3 years at the top level is dreadful business sense and there's no sell on value. By that logic we should sell Benteke before he gets older and looses his resale value?. Take the profit and invest into a young striker and an older one with bags of experience and quality. My pick of players wasn't to say they'd be the ones we'd sign but more to illustrate that £60m is a lot of money and options would be available possibly to make us stronger than by keeping him. Anyway I'm totally pro keeping him. Just pointing out other no so bad options..

One cannot stop other clubs showing an interest in one of your players.

However, what we don't know are CB's personal agenda and FdB's football agenda, which are the two factors likely to decide this saga.

I really like Benteke, but, I think there are strikers in Europe that could do the job for a third of what we would want to sell him for. £60m has been suggested and I think that is a fair amount, considering his age and PL experience.
It's hard to find quality strikers that work in the Prem EU football is different style which is why you see many fail here yet are superstars in Spain. other thing is would they come to Palace even if Benteke went for 60mil that means other clubs would up the prices because they know you have those funds plus desperate Liverpool did this with Benteke.
