Undoubted ability, but I prefer RLC and I think we would get the best out of Wilshere by playing him in the same position as RLC. If he is a possible replacement for Cabaye then I would be worried he doesn't have the bite or the fitness necessary for the role that he serves. As others have said as well, a perennial sicknote, so on balance I don't think he would be a great signing.

Roy Hodgson, the Crystal Palace manager, wants to do Gareth Southgate a major favour by signing Jack Wilshere in January.
Wilshere fears he will have to leave Arsenal if he is to go to next summer’s World Cup after being ignored for the Germany and Brazil friendlies. Southgate insisted the Arsenal midfielder must play in the Premier League to be considered and stuck to his guns even after Jordan Henderson, Dele Alli and Harry Winks withdrew.
West Bromwich Albion’s Jake Livermore and then Burnley’s Jack Cork were called up as deputies ahead of Wilshere who is yet to start a league game this season. With his contract due to expire in the summer, the 25-year-old is already attracting the interest of a number of clubs including West Ham, Swansea City and Real Betis.
But is believed to be Hodgson, the former England manager, who is particularly keen to be reunited with Wilshere, having made the player a key member of his own national squad.

Southgate’s biggest problem as he prepares for the World Cup is the centre of his midfield and Wilshere would be an asset if he is performing regularly in the top flight.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s smart deal for Joe Gomez has been further underlined by the fact Charlton Athletic will receive only £250,000 if he starts for England.
Two years ago, Liverpool spent just £3.5 million to sign Gomez from Charlton. The League One club received a small payment when the defender made his England Under-21 debut and will get £250,000 once he starts a senior game for his country. But at least £5 million will be added to the value of Gomez once he has been capped by his country.

Wiltshire has been playing well lately and if he really is on a mission to try and break into the England team. He just might be worth the risk at the right price!

However as Lyons550 has pointed out the 146 games in 10 seasons is a really damning stat that no club can ignore!

Of course though if we're getting another midfielder the player he's likely to be replacing is McArthur.

I'm not sure if he's a Palace type of player, he may have changed but he's always seemed like a complete and utter one to me.

I didnt actually point that out...well at least i'm not sure that i did.

What I did point out though was that he seems to be getting over this 'injury prone' period of his career if the last 18months are anything to go by and if that's the case...NOW would be the time to go for him...not when he's back up to speed and attracting far better clubs.
