That would make sense if only those pesky facts didn't keep undermining your propositions on the constant basis that they do:

1961-1971 Birth rate 962,000 Death Rate 538,000 year average

1971-1981 - 736,000 and 666,000

1981 -1991 757,000 and 655,000

You clearly don't understand population.
If you look at the world population now you would think that it will rise endlessly, but a fall in world birthrates now will see a leveling out and eventual decline in a few hundred years. It is about the makeup of population and those who are at a furtile age. If the population has more old people than young then you will have less children being born and that will eventually lead to a decline.

The problem should have been headed off long ago. In the 60's the pill and scare stories about over population effectively reduced our birthrate at a time when we should have been encouraging big families.
Historically, family size was vastly bigger in the 19th century despite a high mortality rate and tapered off throughout the 20th. The warning signs were there for years.
The quick fix was immigration but now we have enough people to sustain the population. Immigration has to be curtailed now or we face problem that will make the old age issue look like a picnic.
Better management and accountability of services has to occur and a realism about what the state can do while keeping taxation below a damaging level.

So you would have:
* in the 40s stopped the Windrush,
* in the 50s stopped immigration from the Empire to the UK,
* made the pill illegal for women in the 60s.

Now with the issues we have you now? For example, take a person's assets to keep taxation low?

Well that means we need more young immigrants to balance out how many oldies we have got now, doesn't it, so we can achieve stability? The economy will run a lot sounder too with tax receipts up to help pay for the pensions and NHS, etc.

I think he is talking about "limits to Growth" to stop something similar to a Malthusian catastrophe. I believe some right wingers believe in the forced injection of chlamydia, or gonorrhoea to enforce sterilisation in certain sections of to quote "those being born of foreign origin".

I'm highlighting the fact that many children born are a direct result of immigration and that is significant because the birthrate would not have sustained the population previously.

The trick is to curtail immigration to the right level.
World population trends mean that many more people will be coming here and that has to be limited to a manageable level.
There cannot be an endless open door policy just to facilitate the profits of big business.

What problem?

In terms of population size, the problem will begin if we don't put adequate limits on immigration. There is no argument that can justify a continuous influx of 300k people per year net.

Yet the official figures every decade since WW2 say the opposite. Our population numbers have been on an upward curve since then immigration or no immigration.

And the birth rate in 2015 was nearly 25% less than it was in the sixties.

You have your views which have not been formed by factual stuff but more a feeling it appears.

You have a financial argument and a social one.

I ain't doing the latter on this thread.
