Clive Allen, back years ago. Scored one of the best "disallowed" goals in the history of the game, and did naff all else.

I have a dim recollection of him scoring a hat trick under the lights at Selhurst. I may be wrong though as I struggle to remember yesterday let alone the early 80's!

I was at that game at Coventry as well.

As for this thread I would say Kuqi and Akinbaye were a couple of the worst big money signings, but even worse was the return of the "Messiah" aka El Tel. What a cnut.

Mandanda- please tell if he played any good games?? At Leicester he was a joke!!

The vast majority of 'big names' in the past have been let downs, whether Brolin or Davids, we could only afford them when they were truly past it.

For me the current disappointment has been Mandanda. I had my reservations about us bringing him in but I was pleasantly surprised when he was playing, was really hopefully that we had found a world class goalie but alas. Injuries may have forced him out of the side but I don't think his non-inclusion in the side for a long time has been physical.

Yes.. and Ian Lawson who joined us at the same time. Both past-it overweight puddings of players.

Charlie Cooke, once Kings Rd star, once he got here past his best.

We have had a goodly number of players coming to us past their best, all of whom we hoped would deliver, but generally fell short of hope and expectations. Johnny Byrne in the 60s(2nd time around), Davids, Brolin, Wallace and Hughes from Celtic, George Graham, Terry Venables (as a player that is), and, more recently, Flammini, Adebayor, Johnson (on his return)and I am sure many more.

Ruddock
Mind you he would probably feel that CPFC didn't live up to his expectations. I mean wanting him to achieve some level of fitness!! What was that about .....?

I got vision, and the rest of the world wears bifocals.

maybe I was a bit young, but I used to love Yogi and recall him scoring an absolute screamer?

I've got a memory like a sieve but I remember that goal too and I expect that everyone else who was at the game does too

Marco Gabbiadini. Bought in October 1991 for 1.8 mil, sold in January 1992 for 1.2 million. Was supposed to replace Ian Wright. Never had a chance.

This was the deal for me, i remember thinking what the f*** have we done. We sold our Ferrari and bought a clapped out Fiat. The thought of it still winds me up to this day.

It didn't help when i saw Gabbiadini walking out of an Indian with the biggest f***ing take away you have ever seen. At the time he was playing he always looked 2 stone over weight!

Scott Sinclair for me. Couldn't believe it at the time we signed him, never really done much for us.

Adebayor another that was disappointing.

Eh? Him Clinton and Moses as a front three taking us to the play offs were superb!?
