So you accept that 'Demotion' does occur based on performances. And so it should. I shall treat all the 'Political clout' with derision. That's a bit like saying that someone who drives at 140 mph up the wrong side of a dual carriageway in the rush hour whilst pi**ed out of his mind and texting his girlfriend should lose his license, provided his dad isn't a pal of the Commissioner of Police.

If you got rid of all the refs who made mistakes there would be noone left and no games.

It was a shocking display Willo and you should know it. Wilf is going to get seriously injured one of these days because of the fouls. I am not a fan of conspiracy theories but I am truly starting to believe these t***s are being by the likes of the Joey Barton's of the world. I think it beyond bias. The volume of mistakes always against Palace is shocking. Willo, I don't believe for a second you are a referee (qualified) or otherwise, just like the other so called facts that are in your head - when they are actually wikigoogled from s screen. You have never put a post on here that is balanced against referees. It is pure wind up material. In my view you should have a yellow card for over using "quotations" and the phrase ...at the end of the day. Stop teasing people and be honest.

And I repeat, TV has recently shown some excellent shots of some really 'Tight' calls being made correctly. Willo I'm a ref, and I do run the line as well as a fairly decent standard. These are not pub lino's these are professional Refs who have risen through the ranks on the back of solid officiating. your job as an Assistant Referee is to stay in line with the 2nd to last defender (the goal keeper being the last defender) if the Assistant is doing his job properly and in line with the 2nd to last to last defender, there is no way you can give offside, I have watched it in real time, and it is simply a very bad error that heavily influenced the game. There is no other way of looking at it. Bad call that influenced the result massively. However the next question is did we deserve anything from the game. My opinion is no we didn't second to every ball, and I lost count how many times Damo was beaten in the air inside our own box. Yes the amount of games and recovery time surely played a part, but this was a side with the worst away record in the division and at times we made them look like Real Madrid. It is also not lost on me that since we have lost Sakho we appear to have fallen apart again defensively, and with Dann and Tomkins on the treatment table as well we can't really play the way big Sam wants. I reckon we need 3 more points to be absolutely safe I am concerned as to where they are going to come from after Saturdays debacle. But because of very poor officiating we were robbed of what against 10 men would have been a point at the least and safety.

You are accusing me of lying when nothing could be further from the truth. I am 65 in November so don't officate any more but I qualified many years ago having taken my course and examination at the 'Nat West' Sport ground in Norbury. I have officated in many, many games, spoken to a long list of officials and still speak to those currently still involved. So, I do know a little bit about the job and as such try and provide some insight into the decision making process. Please accept that I am NOT advocating that officials are perfect (Who is in life ?). They err from time to time in fast moving pressure-cooker scenarios within often hostile environments anmd have to make split-second decisions based on what they see or don't see which of course is very different to what we see on umpteen TV replays from a plethora of angles using 'Slow-Mo'. Look for the vested interest. Television contracts for live football matches are worth billions of pounds per season. In order to make a profit on that investment broadcasters need to get people watching the matches on TV. As the end of the season draws near the issues begin to be settled; who will win the title, who will go down? The longer those issues are outstanding the more interesting the matches and the more money the broadcaster makes, especially in short-term passes and subscriptions for next season. Therefore the TV companies have a vested interest in seeing to it that matches they have advertised and invested in, such as the upcoming Palace v Hull match, are not dead rubbers. Are you seriously telling me that people like Murdoch are above supplementing their investments with considerations aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of and sales in their product? And compared with a referee's official salary a bung of as little as £100,000 could go a long way in securing his cooperation. I allege nothing, but would not be in the slightest bit surprised.

With the greatest of respect I have stated categorically that officials DO err from time to time - my goodness if I said otherwise I could certainly be accused of "Pure wind up material". I'm certainly NOT engaged in any such behaviour at all, just giving you my 'Take' based on my experience of officiating (Albeit a long while ago) and from talking to officials.
