No it wouldn't, as the UK law includes discrimination against people based on their nationality, under the definition of racial discrimination. It's a different context. CambridgeEagle was referring to Farage the man – and not specifics of employment law. Remember, many people think even mentioning the word "immigration" instantly makes you a racist. Farage was the only politician brave enough to talk about it and the other politicians have since made it acceptable conversation in political debates. Edited by Penge Eagle (20 Apr 2017 10.24am)

Why shouldn't people have preferences as to who their neighbours are? Why should they have a preference informed by something as oblique as nationality. He's a politician who has a Nationalist agenda and policy, which makes it a political, not personal statement. Why wouldn't he want Romanian neighbours? Is there something inherent in Romanian people that make them undesirable. Or is it just plain old dumb c**t prejudice.

Are you suggesting it should be illegal for someone to move home if they don't like their neighbours?

It is equally as absurd as being prejudiced against a person by their nationality as by their race. Worst neighbours I've had, have all be British Male nationals. The best, were five Muslim girls (although my experience is that next door is a student house).

Its ok to not like someone. Its when you dislike or discredit entire groups of people based on fairly abstract things like lines on a map. As it turns out, just like the British, all Romanians are complex individuals, with their own personality, traits and behaviours. Personally, I wouldn't want to live next door to Nigel Farage. But I don't have a problem living next door to British people.

But there's nothing new in people wanting to live within their own ethnic groups. It happens all around the world.

No,what he's suggesting is that someone who wants to move simply because their neighbours are Romanian (as opposed to any personal traits of the neighbours in question),could lead to one not unreasonably being described as a "prejudiced dumb cnut". Speaking as the grandson of a Romanian,I'd have to vary that to "should most definitely be described as an ignorant prejudiced dumb cnut" Edited by legaleagle (20 Apr 2017 10.34am)

I wish we had no next door neighbours of any colour or creed. Either that means I am not-discriminatory or just bigoted against everyone. I'm hoping the latter. Everyone is scum.
