it is interesting that SP inserted a repayment clause into the bonus BFS received after leaving Palace, which was triggered a few months later when he went to Everton - of course, he got Everton to pay it. If his departure was due to health reasons it is unlikely that Palace would have insisted on such a clause IMHO.

I just heard this interview. Given that the health scare didn't prove to be anything significant, I'm actually glad to know that it wasn't anything to do with their relationship. Especially as Steve Parish has taken flack for 'not backing managers' and this was assumed to be the driving force behind the sudden departure. In regards to the repayment clause, given his experience with Pulis, I'm not surprised he's wiser to what could go on. He's only protecting his party, and it doesn't mean he didn't believe Sam. The fact is, a scenario arose where Sam was both perceived to be too ill to manage, and yet still took up another job within a short space of time. I always thought Allardyce did a good job with us and have no ill feelings towards him. Pulis on the other hand... literally every time I hear his tedious anecdotes or his archaic opinions, I'm left utterly revulsed. He's a f***ing prick. At least you could share a decent pint with Sam.

I would imagine an hour in a boozer with Sam would be very enjoyable, or having him booked as an after dinner speaker - not so the other fellah.
