They may not be guilty of her disappearance, but they are 100% guilty of child neglect, and the fact they've never been done for that continues to do my head in. Agree 200%

Another £85,000 of taxpayers' money has been allocated to continue the search.... bringing the total spent so far to £11.1 million pounds. Surely this must be the most expensive meal out ever!

Putting aside people's thoughts on whether they had anything to do with her disappearance and or death for a moment. What do people make of the amount spent by the authorities on the case. Why are they putting so.many resources into this

If it was my child I would never stop looking but given how many people go missing every year, unless new evidence comes to light you have to draw a line somewhere

Otherwise, as Michaela is probably alluding to, why aren't the same funds available for every other missing child? Since when did losing a child become a business?

Since when did losing a child become a business? Most of the initial cash from their charidee was spunked on defence lawyers for the McCanns and PR/media representation. Why the PR/media cash ? I hope the extra funds to the UK police outs the culprits

How long for and how much more money, for a crime committed overseas, where British police actually have no jurisdiction and were not allowed to become involved until after any potential trail had gone cold, do you feel should be given over to this case?

One thing to consider is given the number of people who go missing and never turn up who we hear little about IF they did cover up an accident or murder her then they could slip under the radar a lot more easily if they stopped pushing it, writing books etc and let it become yesterdays news. Seems strange they would chose to turn the spotlight on themselves if they had something to do with it. As I say I can't make my mind up one way or the other so this is simply another train of thought

A very harsh thing to say of course, if they are innocent. Another possible is that it's bit of a double bluff. Or they are unhinged. Or, as I say, innocent (of murder at least). I have my doubts and I don't think constantly being in the media and not going into hiding is unequivocal proof that they are innocent.

You have to wonder if they police actually know a lot more than they have let on to the media and greater public. Otherwise why would they keep the search going for so much longer and at such expense more than other missing child cases?
