Well the UK never has had a single year in which refugees accepted into the UK, has exceed the number of UK citizens leaving the UK permanently. So I don't see a problem there. In fact its only once ever exceeded 10% of the UK emigration figure. So in questions of numbers, the UK could in fact take in its usual refugee quota, and not increase its population. The migration that's damaging the country is about money, notably people being brought here to work, to keep wages down and profit up.

The UK population is increasing rapidly, so any people arriving here are contributing to that. They all count in the net figure and they and their offspring will all ultimately drain resources. Foolishly I thought the most important thing in my limited universe here was that I am being chucked out of my much-loved season ticket seat in the Arthur to make way for more disadvantaged supporters in August. Within the context of HOL, that is the most important matter for me at present so, earnest and well-intentioned though you might be, dear debaters, forgive me please for not giving a monkeys about Syrian refugee children. Worst analogy of 2017 or any other year. Congratulations.

Thanks so much for that...gratefully accepted. Wondered if the humourless brigade would respond.

And to supplement their low wages we pay them benefits, whereas usually the Brits leaving are taking their money with them. It's a lose lose situation for the country.i I'd also query your figures as according to migration watch, the net migration figure into the U.K. For the year to June 2016 is 330,000.

Could somebody explain a simple question. As we are sending millions in aid to these countries, why are we then also taking their people in as refugees?

No, we have to cut migration that's used by corporations and business to keep wages low, such as by leaving the EU and ending the freedom of movement. That doesn't mean we should prevent humanitarian migration. And why are they ending up in the UK, because the neighbouring countries have a refugee crisis and unsurprisingly people don't want to live in crime ridden, camps, in which criminal gangs and terrorist groups are becoming major players. A refugee camp is no where for a family to live for years at a time. All those camps end up becoming is recruitment grounds for the next generation of extremists
