Can we afford that luxury at the moment though? I think Punch' is more effective with freedom. If you could get AT to work hard (at the very least!), a midfield of (right to left) Wilf, Macca, Ledley, Punch and Townsend would be my first choice.

There's no doubt Yo's interceptions are great and his understanding of the game is on another level but he doesn't effect the game enough for me and he's too weak in the tackle - Which is something we have to do a lot at the moment!

So Cabaye is not an attacking midfielder as we all thought when we bought him , he is not a defensive midfielder as he is too light weight to tackle, but he can make some interceptions , and he can pass the ball around the middle of the pitch without hurting the opposition too much.
What do people expect of him
Well I for one , would have liked a player that now and again gets hold of a game and runs it, causing us
to win , sprinkled with a bit of game changing magic now and again that wins us games that we don't deserve to.
Look at out win rate over the last year with him in the team and it is appalling, what positive effect is he actually having ?
OK he played a bit better against Chelsea , but he was under no pressure as we were expected to lose and in the end he made no difference.
What we need from him now is to hit his top form and help us to win games like Watford and others around us who we are capable of beating , if we fight for it, and make a positive impact on the team.
I would love him to as we are in trouble and really need him to perform like a top French International player.

So Inapickle it's not just me asking you this question which, for some reason you don't want to answer.
In all of your posts you seem to be in complete Pardew denial, instead blaming the players.
Parchmore has put to you ..."So we don't need managers" and mine (again) will be "What is your definition of a manager and the role he should play" as I am interested to know your thought process.

..players on the pitch during a game don't need managers, works the other way when they're off, hence cock ups and unbelievable f*** ups have nothing whatsoever to do with any manager.

No manager would tell any player to go and utterly f*** it up and allow the opposition an advantage, all goals come about through individual errors, an error cannot be caused by the entire team, which just proves how silly all the Pardew out brigade are.

Individual mistakes cause worry and frustration which can lead to loss of form through confidence..when you have just one player doing this the teams that can afford it can afford to make changes, Palace cannot and when you get decisions against referees that are rather unfortunate and deflected balls going into your net...which is called luck situations can snowball and become a serious problem.
