True; Brighton are on 42, with Murray having scored this evening yet again.
It was wonderful to win the last game, but it was time for Pardew to go months ago IMO.

In fact, players that have left are doing very well: Dwight Gayle has scored twice today for Newcastle.

On the condition that we can find a suitable replacement I want him gone.

If he stays and we stay up then I would happily accept that he has confounded my opinion of his ability to keep us up. If he stays and we go down then it's "I told you so"!!!

Of course if he goes we will never know what would have happened if he had kept his job. We might stay up with a new manager or we may not, but it wouldn't necessarily mean it was the wrong decision to sack him.

The problem now is that it's really too late. We don't make a meal out of managerial appointments, we turn them into eight course banquets. The window will be open before we could get someone in and, in all likelihood, we'd already be in real cack with the forthcoming run of games. It would be a tough ask for even the most talented of managers to come in and turn the ship around.

The time to sack Pardew was immediately after the cup final, so that a new appointment would have had plenty of time to recruit and make an impact. Failing that, he should have been given his marching orders at the end of the Swansea game so that there would have been time for a new man to assess what we needed in the January window.

We've really painted ourselves into a corner by failing to act early enough and, anyway, we all know he won't actually be going anywhere, especially now he's on a non-losing streak. Like it or not, and I don't, we're going to be stuck with him for a while yet.

It's always difficult Alan, because they're all a risk aren't they and the one's you really would take like a shot wouldn't consider us. Realistically Benitez wouldn't have been a bad choice.

I'm always hoping that we'll unearth some up-and-coming managerial genius from abroad somewhere, who has no previous associations with Palace, and hasn't been on the PL managerial merry-go-round for years.

Which I said on here prior to the Swansea game but I got some stick for it with all the "Purporting to be in the know" piffle.

OK, you were right!

It became obvious to me that he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon when Parish declared his unconditional support for him.

If we stay up it will be despite of Pardew, not because of. I would really like to be proved wrong but I can't see it.

I think we are all probably wasting our time discussing this because....

I don't think Parrish is even contemplating getting rid of Pardew right now and AP is not about to resign as he thinks he is doing a good job and events are conspiring against him.

I'm not even sure that Pardew is being grilled by Parrish in the boardroom (Alan Sugar apprentice style) for his poor performances. The Swansea debacle should have resulted in the sack especially as his 2016 league record was so poor.

Last week's improved defensive display was quickly abandoned yesterday as Pardew was itching to go on the attack introducing Cabaye, Fryers and Campbell who are not renowned for their defensive capabilities and dispensed with MacArthur who does the work of two men defensively and is one of our better performing players.

I wanted/want Pardew to do well for us because of his history with the club but having given him the benefit of the doubt for nearly 2 years I am now convinced that he is too gung-ho and doesn't learn lessons from embarrassing defeats, but sticks to his guns of all out attack at all times.

I am convinced that Pardew will be here till the end of the season, so buckle up and get your tin hat on.

With the squad we've got, it should be a breeze to stay up, but I fear for our future under Pardew's management.
