Am I the only one here that doesn't feel particularly cross when a supporter of a soon to be League One club comes on here to tell us our club is being run badly?

Newcastle fans were roundly derided for saying Pardew was a limited manager and an awful person. The "difference it makes" is that, despite it transpiring that Newcastle fans were right, there's been no acknowledgement of that. Pardew escaped Newcastle with little blame for the situation at St James'. Ashley is a bad owner, no doubt, but Pardew contributed to the malaise at the club and certainly shoulders the majority of the responsibility for poor selections, substitutions, tactics and performances. A responsibility that friends in the media helped him avoid. Presumably because the team was doing quite well. They were patchy. They also did do some very good business. His substitutions, selections and tactics were so bad they were sitting in a good position for a top ten finish, and had some good campaigns. Pardew is a good manager at the level of clubs like ours. But then Newcastle fans turn on all their managers very rapidly - Allerdyce anyone?

Huddersfield look decent They did look decent in the first half last week against Shrewsbury... but not in the 2nd... and lost 2-1. And that was with virtually a full strength team and to a Shrewsbury side without Sullay! So no, I hardly think a soured Newcastle Fan has much credibility coming onto this board and telling Palace how to structure the club, right after they lost to Huddersfield. No doubt Newcastle will be back soon, money talks... but right now Palace are the bigger club.

Never has I am not sure what clubs like "US" are any more than "THEM" but I understand the point that you make. Firstly of course you can spend huge amounts of money and screw it up.... you can spend money you don't have; and no one is advocating that. It is possible to spend wisely and cheaply though there are huge limitations to that strategy. Players are valued at what they are for a reason and it wont be often that you can judge a players value better than the club that have them. Ultimately if you want quality then it costs. That is the case in most areas of life and certainly is the case in Football. Don't forget that the new TV deal has driven football inflation even higher. Under the new TV deal £30m is what you have to pay for a £20-25m striker.

Newcastle are destined to follow Leeds, their fans are deluded in thinking they are big clubs, but badly managed from the top was their downfall.

I only saw highlights of Huddersfield first game, but they looked a decent outfit to me. Yes Toon have lost both opening games but it's early days. I'm not sure I'd say the Newcastle fan is soured, but just sharing the experience they had with Pardew. One thing is certain that a lot of fans are worried about where the club is heading this season

I always thought it a bit weird and quasi racist how we thought the Geordies were -- collectively -- idiots. You've just got to worry when a healthy majority of people watching a team week in, week out don't like what they see.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Our only attacking options were wide players, it's not hard to predict and it's not hard to defend against us. We had absolutely no creativity through the middle, having to squeeze Championship-quality Lee into the no. 10 position. If we wanted a new manager we should have got one at the end of last season. Things will only be made worse by destabilising the club now. Incorrect. He's prem standard.

So, 18 months after your manager leaves you hunt down a palace website "in peace" to say I told you so, based on 1 game. Even the people in Geordie Shore had have the intellect to work out that's gloating. We were 10 minutes away from winning the cup final and safe by Christmas last season. The dip in form was only attributed to a lack of a striker, injuries and the cup run. Now you're in the Championship and have lost your first two games. Pardew would have kept you up. Especially if he had the same amount of money as McLaren had. It's people like you that have turned Newcastle toxic. Edited by jeeagles (15 Aug 2016 12.53pm) Big Sam was going to relegate us. We gave Derby 4 points that season whe their whole total was 11... To be honest, before Pardew left we weren't actually flying. And I don't know why are you talking about Newcastle here. This thread is about Pardew and it seems his excuses are running out. You have been s***e all 2016 and it has nothing to do with current Newcastle but all to do with Mr Pardew. I think you will sack him before Christmas. Edited by Deluded (16 Aug 2016 8.16pm)
