Gayle has found his level.

But if Gayle is a big success at Newcastle and they are promoted he could well do a good job in the PL.

Don't forget that Wright joined us when we were in the lower division and he didn't do too badly at the top ! And Colleymore left us, played at a lower level and then made it in the PL.

Mate at work is a forest fan and knows his football. Said Burke was class but very raw still. Said he's a massive lump, young and especially quick. Mentioned that he's lost count of the times he's seen him knock the ball past someone and leg it to the ball first, such is his speed. Just said that his final ball and shot is not quite there yet but we all know that's something that can improve with age. He said Burke is a real prospect and we should be happy to get him if we actually do. Stressed that he's not a winger though, so shouldn't be looked at as a replacement for bolasie, which I've seen mentioned. He said Burke is much more direct. Definitely sounds like the sort of player we need though.

The difference between the three you choose is that Gayle has had a chance in the top league and didn't pull up any trees. Wright and Collymore started the same way Gayle has and certainly proved top league strikers although I appreciate Gayle had far less games at the top, he is nowhere near those two.

Indeed, but the point I am making is that both Wright and Colleymore "Pulled up trees" in the lower divisions before they succeeded at the top and the same could be said of Gayle who might benefit hugely from any success he achieves with Newcastle.

Let's not assume that because Gayle never quite made it at our club that this means he cannot be a success in the PL at some stage.

Indeed a respect your opinion but don't think Gayle has the qualities to be a success in the premier league from watching him play there for us.

I know it's a Sunday and we signed Benteke recently but before the working week starts I'd love a rumour to have a it of traction. Something from L'eqippe or SSN that I can agonise over and refresh constantly.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy we signed Benteke but now the thread is locked I have way too much free time.

Can we put someone on Sainsbury's car park watch to see if Nugent is still there?

What I am saying is that I am not making the assumption that as he never quite made it for us in the PL this means he cannot make it at some stage in the future.

He certainly has ability but the system we deployed never really suited his game at PL level.Maybe his game will improve at Newcastle this season in the Championship and he will go on to do a good job with them in the PL. The confidence one gains from scoring goals is great for player and club ! Time will tell of course.

I hope you're right. I wish him all the best as he seems like a decent bloke.

You never know, Bamford might have done okay in the PL if Boro had gone up after that season and he stayed with them

Always bearing in mind it is one league lower but ....

Two players stood out.

One was Oliver Burke for the way he took his two goals, his ball control and his speed.
If we can get him for under £10 million we should.

The other? Dwight Gayle.
Demonstrated that if he gets the service he will score at whatever level.

I like Dwight, but technically he was showing that he could score at Championship level, as that is the level he is at.

Sorry to be a pedantic prick
