More interested in visiting Spain with his wife Yvette and their delightful hotel 'La Escondida' in Penaguila.
Venables is in his 70s now !

Absolutely... I'll bet they even swoon when he tries on the FA blazer and tie for the first time at the FA's Savile Row tailor.

His hair is neat and tidy too.

Absolutely nailed on prime candidate for the Old Farts.

Absolutely fcuking disastrous choice for the rest of us though.

I like Gareth but he will have to insist that a lot of the old farts at the FA are put into a home, or take retirement, and get some people who know about football at the top.

Honestly I would go with Rafa
He has the right pedigree in that he has EPL experience, European Experience , he is the right age & maturity to handle the position, he would have the players respect, he is eloquent enough to cope with our suits brigade in Soccer HQ & the media.
He has shown outstanding integrity sticking with Newcastle even though they went down.
OK someone from the FA would have to go see Newcastle to make it happen but in all honestly I am sure that hurdle could be overcome.

Danny Murphy says the FA should consult former players

Maybe they should, German, Spanish, Italian & French. Definitely not English who have continuously failed to deliver

Would never manage England even if he fancied a crack on the International stage.

Understand that in the distant past he said that one of the worst day's of his life was when England won the 'World Cup'.
