No it is not. It is not like a simple case of paying a tradesman to turn up and give a quote. It takes a lot of time and SP is no doubt being very meticulous. For a number or reasons. Whenever anyone submits planning applications it's presented to those surrounding it. A neighbour puts in a new window and they have to apply for it if it's on the side of the house. So don't try and claim this or those around SP are any different.

And nah, can't say I've noticed the supermarket and car park, flats behind the WH end and row of houses built across from The Clifton Arms in the decades I've been going to Selhurst since before you were soiling your training pants in juniors. Do me a favour.

On the subject of the car park. The Sainsbury's car park starts on WH Lane and ends where the main stand ends. The CPFC car park starts there.

Parish is not being meticulous because Sainsbury's are being obstinate or will be driving hard bargains. He could be going about things carefully so that they or residents do not have the opportunity to object to the plans or one of the plans
we're going to submit to the council. It is not all black and white.

Again, SP has said before about the significant costs of the professional plans and progressing the plans before even an agreement has been reached and a spade is dug. It costs several million before you get plans agreed.

I hear SP has some drawings of what he'd like to do with the main stand but isn't releasing anything until he's confident it's going to get the go ahead. Again, that project I wouldn't be surprised if it's been altered since knowing we'd have £50million plus of cash to spend on it rather than a 20 year mortgage and at a cost to our abilities in surviving Prem football or gaining promotion from Champ football.

Of course there's planning issues, there is everywhere, but what you were trying to imply was that finances were not an issue, or more specifically, what the real reason was for the delay as there was a plan, which was incidentally a 'concept' idea 6 years ago. If you don't think the delay since 6 years ago has anything to do with Parish/CPFC not having the money and needing a 20 year mortgage in a business that was losing £5mil a year in the Champ and struggling in each season after promotion for a significant time then each to their own.

With the US investment that all changes. No debt from before or with ground building, no interest from previous debt or ground building and the opportunity to maximise the corporate revenue which gives you the revenue you're allowed to increase wages. It is a completely different opportunity and that changed when the US investment was signed off, only 4 months ago.

You do realise that sainsburys own the land and car park, we have a right to the air above sainsburys. It is impossible for the club to do anything without working with sainsburys.

The owners will want what's best for the club and not the supermarket, sainsburys will want what's best for them and not necessarily us

Untill we reach an agreement and work with sainsburys we can't do anything.

In terms of 'Crystal Palace Park', I seem to recall many years ago that one of the obstacles was the fact that the area was contained within 4 London Boroughs and they all couldn't reach agreement with regard to the proposals.Perhaps this is the case to this day.

Plans were not released. Some comments and statements were made. It takes a few million to get surveyors and solicitors to draw up plans of this size, probably why nothing concrete was released before SP went fishing for US investment. Once investment comes in, amount available and what's possible and plans to do it can change (no need for club and TV revenue to be used but also none of the investment is planned for squad costs)

Also, nothing has been progressed since then, probably because we were stuck on just over 30 points with the end of season drawing closer.

Although it looks like SP may reveal plans or minor details of plans and time frames this Summer, with his PR experience, I wouldn't be surprised that if we reach the FA Cup Final, press releases and short interviews on London news programmes and sport channels happen the week before. Timing is important in his game.

They weren't officially released but plans were shown at a business lunch last year. I know 3 people who saw them at the time.

Those plans were still at the time being refined and we're reliant upon continuing discussions. Though the refinements will be around the exterior of the ground rather than the stand elevations shown.

The only way we'll get a proper spanking upgrade at Selhurst is if ISIS enter a team in the annual 5-a-side.

Think we all just need to hold fire until the post-season announcements that Steve Parish has said will be coming.

We took a massive step forward 4 months ago in securing the investment needed to update the stadium. The big issue now will be the planning permission around the main stand, which was the issue the last time planning permission was sought i.e. the properties on the old Lady Edridge school complaining of the block in lighting, which meant they couldn't get permission for a two tier stand all the way along the pitch. Hopefully this will have been addressed when CPFC2010 do make their announcement.

Sainsburys I think will be less of an issue, with the compensation they might receive from the expanded WH stand they could easily modernise the store (akin to something like their Pimlico store for example). The main issue would be potential interruption to business whilst the stand is expanded or the store is modernised.

Whilst I would have loved to have seen a new shiny stadium at Crystal Palace Park that is dead in the water and we should just move on.

Er, perhaps you are wrong, it must have happened before. Here is a map of the boundary that CPFC 2010 own, [Link] . Everything within the red line.

There was an issue with the houses behind the family section of the main stand. The last bit Noades sold off. There was an idea to build a stand that lowers as you get to the corner flags like several others. That might have just been low enough for the houses and probably kept out of the Sainsbury's car park, depends how far in you want to ascend the stand.

But that wouldn't be the ultimate build and it wouldn't fit in with future rebuild of WH and Holmesdale. What it does indicate is that there were solutions. But when SP does business it can appear slow to some, calculated to others.

If permission or agreements can be reached whether or not the US came in, why didn't SP progress it for the 5 years you mention since CPP or NSC were known to be a no go? Here are a few reasons for you.

1. £5mil losses. No cash in bank.

2. We were banking £20 mil in Prem season 1. £10 mil approx in Prem season 2. What was that for? Rebuilding and not borrowing. Again, money or agreed finance we didn't have when the CPP 'concept' images were released.

3. He was hesitant like he's hesitant with many things CPFC. It takes SP longer than most to sign a player. Bl33ding ages. It takes just as long to sign a manager perfect for the time (Pulis).

4. Again, and I know this frustrates you. Possible relegation. When you're trying to build the club on the pitch and off it, it's a chicken and egg situation you'd ideally like to happen in unison. Both pay for each other. To fail at one will affect the other.

The US investment has been huge in this progressing beyond a potential development. It is obvious. Further, the Sainsbury's car park problem is not necessarily that much of an obstacle if we did agree to take that square area at the main stand/WH corner as they, or we for them can build a 2 storey car park that slopes off well before the back windows of houses on Clifton Rd.

This is an assumption but we don't know how profitable that Sainsbury's is. There's a bigger Tesco down the road and supermarkets gradually winding down to break even or losses are a drain on large public ltd's. A dramatic overhaul can sometimes be the best thing for a struggling retail store behind the times.

The WH is obviously another consideration. Do you build above or build above and back? To do the latter Sainsbury's would probably have to extend South or extend into the basement. I think this has been done elsewhere.

I have always asserted that one can upgrade 'Selhurst Park' and increase capacity but how on earth will the surrounding streets cope with the increased traffic ?

One can point to 3 mainline stations in quite close proximity but for many it simply isn't practical to make the journey by rail.

Some could park further away or maybe we're looking at basement parking and/or a storey of parking 1 level above ground. A good start would be more than 4 f***ing carriages after midweek games at Norwood Junction. I've avoid that service for years now. Awful.

How many London club fans drive to the bigger clubs? Not that many. They might drive to a station and then rail it but not that many drive.

Don't agree Liverpool get 40,000 + every week, and Anfield pops out of a scene from Coronation street, just like main Road used to.

Our supporters are used to their favourite parking space and plenty of room to lay down thermos, sandwiches and tartan blanket for HT. Times are changing, space is at a premium. Maybe limitless population growth/immigration, conversion of houses to flats and relentless rise in car ownership has its drawbacks.

I've never been to 'Anfield' so have no idea about the road network around the ground and surrounding area.I know what it is like around 'Selhurst' and I think I have valid concerns about extra traffic around the ground and nearby roads.Maybe the club could introduce a "Park and Ride" system ?
