I do hope there is currently someone out there looking at players rather than relying on BT Sport Europe highlights or watching them in pre-season. The German female presenter is a bit of a distraction as well.

We need to be very proactive this Summer and if we're signing anyone reasonably big news, it might be a good idea to sign them before the Euros.

I think the charlton youngster lookman could be one for the future and the millwall midfielder thompson and they fulfill pardews south London young hungry player criteria

I think we should be looking to keep a British and Irish core. Already we have a growing French speaking group of players; Cabaye and Souare aren't fluent English speakers and you'd imagine Adebayor, Sako and Chamakh generally prefer conversing in French. We don't want to end up like Newcastle.

Don't really want to see that group get too large, certainly if Adebayor is still here. He seems the kind of character others will attach themselves to and maybe get distracted and further from the rest of the group. That's just my idea of what could happen and my assumptions of Adebayor based on what's been said of him before, I could be completely wrong.

Edited by Mad4palace (18 Apr 2016 10.26am)

As regards the 'French' speakers listed it is highly unlikely Adebayor will be with us next season and almost guaranteed Chamakh will not be getting a new contract. Cabaye spent three years at Newcastle and has been with us one season so I am sure he is more than capable of conversing in English. Similarly Sako was at Wolves for three years so I am sure he is close to fluent in English these days.

It is all very well saying keep the core of the squad British but the players we need have to be available and available at the right price.

As far as I am concerned we should get the very best players we can who offer the best value wherever they may hail from.
