Oh, and my parents wrote this book: Still available on Amazon [Link] The Gillman's are your parents Seth? Still my favourite DB bio. They are indeed, and they'll be very happy to hear that you like their book so much EDIT: black eagle knows my mum too - she taught him English at Sylvan High School. Now that someone I care about has died I will take the chance to say this: one of the most contemptable, disgusting facets of this website is the pathetic pleasure some of you seem to derive from creating posts with celebrity names as their titles and the word "dead" in the text portion. It seems that you can't get the post out quickly enough, such is your desire for a small amount of recognition at a time of others' pain and misfortune. This time we even had two posts out at the same time and another five minutes later- you couldn't even wait long enough to check if there was a duplicate thread. It's an insensitive thing to do and not a pleasant way to find out someone you care about has died. I'm not saying it can't be talked about here but jumping on your laptop the instant you find out is NOT the way to do it. Major Tom signing off. Edited by Jamesrichards8 (11 Jan 2016 7.26am)

The updated book they did about the Eiger Direct, published last year, is also a cracking read (although I'm obviously biased) [Link]

Bowie once attended a Palace match with his dad back in the fourth division days. It was cold and grey and it bored him.......he was only a nipper [had it been today then he might have had more fun and started liking the game]. I am not going to try and prove this...but I have been a Bowie fan for 43yrs and met people who know Bowie well enough to know this fact. Edited by lindzay (12 Jan 2016 2.25am)

No they don't.99.9% of the time the thread title is the name of the person followed by "dead. RIP will be missed etc" then nice things about them.Whats wrong with that? Plus it's tradition on here so don't expect it to change just because your super sensitive. Jesus.
Jesus dead thread followed 3 days later by another thread entitled 'Jesus', thinking someone was a bit slow on hearing the news, only to click on it and read the words 'alive again'. How we laughed....

Growing up, i didn't know where i fitted in to the bigger picture, but, i managed to find Bowie and with his music, i felt.. normal. What was even better was that he grew up in the same streets as me. He was a gentleman, an artist and a hero to many. I was devasted by Robin William, Rik Mayall too, but this is too much. Such a tragic way and the safest part, is that his latest album was planned with the assumption it would be interpreted differently, once he past. He always had an idea, for everything and the world, for me, seems different now.
This was once a quality forum.... |
