I once got on a train at Balham and was travelling to norbury, I was in a compartment with one other gentleman , during the journey, the gentlemen leaned forward and tried to touch my p****, I found it very upsetting, I was about 14 and it was my first experience of a homosexual, but wasn't my last, the dirty b*stard. Cucking tells this story a lot better.

We've decided to get the train to Spain rather than fly. Has saved us about 500 sovs.

Sometimes the train I go on has windows, sometimes air conditioning, takes an hour on the train from home to London. Sometimes I buy a ticket on the train, but if no one selling tickets on the train, I have to get one the other end.
Just when I thought that I was out...........they pull me back in |

We've decided to get the train to Spain rather than fly. Has saved us about 500 sovs. I don't think you can get the train to Spain but I might be wrong. Years ago I got trains (plural) to Spain a few times and we also had to get a bus from home to Reading Station, the Underground from Paddington to Victoria (although once we got a cab because the Tube was on strike) and a ferry from Dover to Calais (although sometimes from Folkestone to Boulogne) and then a train to Paris where we got the Metro (that's French for Underground-they didn't have the free paper) from Gare du Nord to Gare du something or other and then another train to the French/Spanish border where we had to change trains again. Here's where it gets really interesting. The reason we had to change at the border is because Spanish trains have a wider gauge than the rest of Europe so the French train couldn't go on the Spanish tracks without falling off. Although there was one train (a red one I remember) which could because somewhere beneath the Pyrenees they changed the bogies!!!! But that train was more expensive so we didn't go on it. Of course this was all before the Channel Tunnel so maybe you can go to Spain by train (singular).Although you might have to take the red train or your own bogies
that is interesting...its because we brits built the french railway system

I don't go on the train much (even though i have a freedom pass) but i'll have to start, it seems so much is going on according to this thread and you probably won't even notice it, what i do know is that if you are travelling from london to orpington on a stopping train, you can get off at petts wood, pop into the micro pub, The one inn the wood, have a really decent pint, and still catch the next train to orpington.

I did a 96 hour bus journey down through Chile once, thou it was more like a coach. I think coaches are better than busses as they can have toilets.
You do on the National Express. Possibly.

I had to take the Docklands Lights Railway recently and pulled up at a station called 'Pudding Mill Lane'. I wondered how it got this name, but a look out of the train window gave me a clue. The station is very close to the Olympic Stadium. Explains it all really.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link] |

In the days when you could still get a train from Charing Cross to London Bridge, I got on a train intending to change at London Bridge and go to Norwood Junction from there. Turned out it didn't stop at London Bridge and the first stop was Tonbridge. When I got off and explained what had happened to a ticket collector, he didn't charge for the journey to Tonbridge, but I did have to buy a ticket to get back to London Bridge.
