Apparently Southampton are failing to meet Celtics £10 million valuation for Van dyke.

he would be a very good signing.

btw John Salako was on talksport this morning saying we are hoping to bring one or two players in.

Sorry but i still think its way too much money.

In your opinion.
Ronaldinho was plucked from a back street s*** Brazilian league for a fee that raised eyebrows at the time. If we are to buy in to your way of thinking he wasn't worth the money?
Ridiculous. If a player has the talent and ability it matters not whether he plays for the Dog n Duck or Juventus! Demand and desirability dictate a players fee not who he plays for and certainly not which league that team plays in.

Dont forget Ledley had played down here before he went up to the spl so it kind of negates the point. Too good for up there which is why lowly palace were able to tempt him from the all conquering celtic. That is probably the most definitive answer you could get from the player.

What about Craig Moore then? Way too good for our second tier Palace team at the time we signed him.

That was 16 years ago. Ancient history in modern football. We were talking about how the gap has widened in recent years.

Rubbish, its the same difference. The gap between the SPL and the English Premiership has always been a chasm.
And how can it possibly 'negate the point' just because Ledley played in the second and third tier (NEVER THE PREMIERSHIP) with Cardiff before he went to Celtic?
You don't know what you are talking about.

Hang on, so you reckon 11 mil for van dijk is good business then do you based on looking good in a rubbish league? As i said earlier in this, good scottish players used to come down and make an immediate impact but they have not for years. You're entitled to to your opinion but dont tell me i dont know what i'm talking about when thats my opinion.

Most mental post ever. When Welshman Andy Dorman came to us from St Mirren he absolutely bossed it...

In the SPL he was a cut above most other players and came down with great expectations, but he could not cut the mustard in the Championship, went on loan to Bristol Rovers in Div 2, then disappeared off the radar, ending up back dragging the depths of the MLS with New England Revolution.

For the last time. In my opinion van dijk is not worth the money quoted as he looks nothing better than we have already even tho he is playing in a crap league that has not provided players for down here of the calibre that it ised to for a long time. Bored of arguing mate, we all support the same team so please if we must lets agree to differ without it turning into a slanging match.

So your saying Malta/Wales/ Northern Ireland/Faroe Islands/Iceland etc all have stronger leagues? I know its pretty average in terms of quality but really! I think you may be slightly over exaggerating there!

No I did not say that, I said I could only think of those two, at the time I did not have the time to look through half the worlds leagues.

I judge a league by it's strength in depth on all teams in the league not the top 3 or 4 teams, Malta, is a lot stronger than you think and will overtake the SPL if it already hasn't, Wales, their three top teams play in the English League system, Northern Ireland, is also stronger than you think, Faroe Islands/Iceland hardly in Europe are they plus they have no grass pitches in the Faroe Islands/Iceland, and when you see some of the top players that come from those counties then you'd realise they are no slouches, and they've also beaten and drawn against some of the bigger counties in Europe including Scotland, and Austria, and are ranked 75th in the FIFA World Rankings well above many other European countries.

Well, well, On the evidence of last nights game and result that well and truly kicks your weakest league theory into touch, and Iceland were well worth their victory, and top place in group A as they've beaten everyone in their group including Nederland's twice, home and away.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!
