It's all up in the air. God only knows what will happen.

Indeed this is the case at the present time but there are still over 30 days to go before the election and the polls could change in that time. Fascinating !

Many Conservative supporters I have canvassed find it somewhat perplexing that on the back of a strong economic performance thus far the party is not in a far stronger position in the polls.

Include me in that too. I just feel that if they were stronger on immigration and were more definite about EU referendum that they would be more ahead and more chance of having a majority.

I would still vote for them if the referendum was due to be done earlier than 2017.

I'm voting UKIP to put pressure on Cameron to do it in 2016 as I can see no good reason for the delay despite what Cameron says about negotiation... Merkel et al won't allow us to control our borders and remain full members of EU.

Farage was right last night..... whilst we remain in the EU there is NOTHING we can do to control immigration.

Even if we voted to come out of the EU in 2017, it will be at the very best another year to arrange withdrawal, which means we will have hordes of migrants arriving here for another 3 years at the very least.

If you think our infrastructure is groaning now, imagine what it will be like in 2018.

In terms of immigration The Conservatives have announced initiatives :
Clamping down on benefits tourism and health tourism so that we only welcome those who want to work hard and contribute to our society
Cracking down on abuse of the immigration system by closing bogus colleges and making it much tougher for illegal immigrants to remain in the UK by restricting access to work, housing, benefits, healthcare, bank accounts and driving licences
Introducing a new citizen test with British values at its heart.

Regards the referendum, this is a cast-iron pledge from the party and we couldn't be any clearer than that.

Whilst we are in the EU we cannot restrict the movement of Labour to the UK, but we can place restrictions and conditions as mentioned above.

Time and time again Nicola Sturgeon showed how she would dominate a weak Labour leader. At one stage she even promised to keep Miliband "Honest" ! All fiscal responsibility which has been the hallmark of the Government over the last 5 years would go out of the window and we would lose our independent nuclear deterrent. A Labour /SNP pact would be a disaster for our great nation.

I understand his message, however last night I thought he came across as a bit of a goon with his silly faces and theatricals.Certainly NOT Prime Ministerial at all but then again he will never attain such a position.

Yes ...but we already know about all of the above - something could have been done years ago but it hasn't. Electioneering tripe.

In terms of doorstep canvassing ...I've see nothing yet except from the Liberal Democrats. Two newsletters, a personal mailing and bloke talking to shoppers in the village. I'm probably not voting for them but 10/10 for effort.

Question: why are the Tories doing this now rather than when they got into power?

Also, all of the above is bollocks. Mealy mouthed politico bollocks. Only UKIP want to debate the issues that matter to the country. The Tories don't and are actively seeking to avoid the debate.
