QPR are bonkers and will offer him 50k pw without batting an eyelid. They will always offer more than us wages wise because they are owned by a bunch of idiots who will always pay a player 20k pw more than he his worth. It's no big deal. we tore Cardiff apart with Mr Caulker at the heart of their defence and we will do the same to Queer Park Strangers as well.

Fee agreed ... with QPR

Another alleged target bites the dust!

This post is cobblers, or at least the conclusion -- "another target bites the dust" -- is. Any club that meets Caulker's buy-out clause has agreed a fee with Cardiff. Agreeing a fee is meaningless...little more than an expression of interest. 50 clubs could agree a fee...so what? Caulker will decide where goes and when he goes no matter how many clubs agree fees. This target hasn't bitten the dust in any sense of the word. He's just as much in play now as he was two days ago. People here are constantly castigating journalists for misinformation but it seems to me supporters are just as good at making up bollocks as the press are if the above is anything to go by.

No word from the player himself yet.

I suspect he is holding out for a top 10 club (maybe even top 5 seeing as he came from Spurs originally).

Can't see him going to QPR (or us), surprised Liverpool aren't in for him given there defence last year.

I'm not. While he'd be a decent signing for us (or QPR), he's nowhere near Champions League/Top 4 class on the evidence so far. "Good" enough for 6th place Spurs to move him on without hesitation and not good enough to help Cardiff stay up after that. Liverpool obviously have higher ambitions.

Rodgers had him at Swansea..if he rated him he'd have been at Liverpool last year or he would have got the deal done this summer by now.

If Pulis likes him we'll bid. Then Caulker will make his call....but personally I won't fret if he chooses someone over us.

He's no Bobby Moore...

I can see QPR going the same way as Portsmouth. Thank god we have such good people in control.

I don't think Caulker is worth all that money,we can do better centre back wise paying alot less.

Not even a remote chance. Do you have any idea how much Tony Fernandez is worth? Clearly not...

The inevitable chats of "we can't afford" that sort of money etc are now upon us when linked with any players. I understand we come from a varied past of financial mishaps, but progression is progression and invariably a player like Caulker is progressing the squad. The best of a bad bunch at Cardiff, young with residual sell on value, on the cusp of England squad (Which had Jagielka as the starting CB...really?!). I do not expect CPFC to go out and spend £20m on one player, but perhaps £20m-£30m across 5 or 6 players seems reasonable when looking at the premier league. I am fearful of 2nd season syndrome in the premier league and that teams will become more accustomed to our style of play. We need to progress as a 1st XI and we need to progress the squad. I think we were incredibly fortunate last year to get away relatively free of mass injuries. Imagine if Speroni, Delaney, Jedi, Wardy who provided a backbone had got injured...we need an adequate squad not only to compete, but simply to remain in the premier league once again.

All makes sense to me, I am sure our guys have all in place like the last window. I am going to remain confident they will get it right,TP has vast experience in this area.
