I have made the mistake of thinking there might be some solidarity amongst football fan from different clubs, after all this is about football not just the club involved, but it seems we don't have solidarity amongst our own fans. I really was clutching at straws. Never mind. I hope we'll all observe the silence and let's get on with the footy!

I was following Palace home and away all over the place and it was what happened in those seasons which put the fences up. What years did you go away during that zenith of hooliganism? Oh, yeah Wiki? Me? When it comes to football? Ha. No chance. All in me bonce as if it happened yesterday.

I agree about the ob, especially West Yorks, they screwed up the ripper investigation but it doesn't lessen the blame that should rightly be laid at the door of the fans who were trying to push their way into the stadium. That is what annoys me with this and a lot of other things in todays society, everyone wants someone, other than themselves, to blame. '71 - present day, that good enough? They were a very nasty lot, even before Hillsborough the media would gloss over any 'problems' caused by the big boys, Liverpool and Man U included. I remember being at Anfield probably late '70s early '80s, Keegan was still playing, about two hundred Palace fans were there in the seats and making a bit of noise, which was unusual(we went independently by car), I think they arrived late, we got a draw after being kicked off the pitch, the ref gave nothing (nothing changes), after the game the Kop boys came down to kick the crap out the Palace lot who were in the main scarfers The OB did Fvck all, again nothing changes.
But one of the salient facts about Hillsborough after what we had been told was that no matter how many times you watch various bits of film not even one punch can be seen. Anger and crowd crushing/pushing and even some laughing before amongst those outside but no actual aggressive fighting. If there had been so many out of their head drunk fans without tickets it would have kicked off surely? Anyway, gatecrashing a party is not a criminal offence and as they had history of doing it the police should have been prepared. Although that still doesn't explain why the fans with tickets were directed into the already full pen. Down to Superintendent Duckenfield that. He knew it was full yet ordered the gates open.

There doesn't need to be any punches thrown, they didn't (usually) fight amongst themselves, they were looking for a free ride, in the docu I saw and have mentioned previously, there was a problem at the gates and if I were OB in that situation, in those times, I would have opened the gate, the fans knew it would happen, that's why they were there. Gate-crashing a party isn't a criminal offence, crushing your supposed compatriots is. As I've said the OB didn't help the situation but the responsibility lies with the late arriving fans. But it wasn't full, there was room on either side, but as I stated earlier the 'boys' had to be directly behind the goal, that's how it was and you know it. Anyway, gotta run now, it's been a delight

Scousers used to always push in or "steam" as i think it used to be called. They did it in Istanbul and ruined it for plenty who had tickets and werent allowed in. This with inept ,panic policing all added up to a terrible tragedy. There is plenty that seems to be brushed under the carpet. Police are taking all the blame. For Christ sake, the police are being blamed because it was they who actually caused the deaths. Make no mistake- they didn't control the crush, rather allowed it. Then they refused to allow fans out of the Lepers End even as they were dying. Then they prevented the emergency services to attend quickly. Those who say they watched it on telly will know they saw fans trying to revive the dying and using make-shift stretchers. Why? Because the police did not allow the medics to get near 'til too late.
