Towards the end of his career he had Stoke playing better footie then I have seen us playing in the last 10 years at least. 2 pacey skillful wingers and quality strikers with some quality in the middle of the pitch with the likes of Adam.

Stoke was a fortress and he continually got great results against the best teas in the country arguably some of the best teams in the world were nullified and beaten.

For me that's the dream, yeah if we play like tripe for the rest of the season and stay up by 1 point its the most successful season we have had since the early 90s. Give me 'plastic Arsenal fans' at the Emirates over 'real' Barnsley fans on a tuesday night all day long.

There is another myth about Pulis that he hates youth players!

Bollocks. Had the youngest captain in the league, and developed plenty during his time with Stoke, such as Shotton and he bought Butland etc, the squad had one of the youngest average ages, with more British players in the squad then a lot of other Premiership teams.

Let's not forget, our team is crap, we have heard it all season from managers 'not the most gifted but full of spirit,' that all comes from TP and if he keeps us up it's a miracle and then we will see some major changes.

Stoke were at their best footballing wise when they reached the FA cup final. They were pretty good to watch then, still direct but very much attacking.

Exactly, far better then we have ever been. I'd be interested to know how many points they took of teams in the top 6 at the time they played them last season

I can tell you on average while Pulis was there they came 13th in the amount of goals scored per season.

And Tenth in number of clean sheets.

In terms of Palace comparisons to Stoke, its probably better to look at us in reference to the Stoke that Pulis got promoted, rather than the club he left behind.

And we aren't as good as them either (just looked at their history - some pretty good names in that squad).

Exactly but I'm talking about long term, the answer to the thread itself. I am saying yes he is, look at what he did with Stoke, after 5 years of safety they were a force in the league playing attacking football getting to a Cup final.

Isn't this really all about Chamakh?

When he comes back, he will probably drop KG.

The last two games have been the worst because there has only been Murray up top whereas Chamakh has the ability to hold it up, beat people (oh and give away penalties).

We used to play with Jerome up top and Chamakh behind, that worked better than the flat 3 defensive midfielders - Chamakh is the key to us staying up in my view as he is able to offer the ability to hold it up and so support Murray/Jerome up top.

It is still "let's hit them on the break" - but it isn't as negative as three flat defensive midfielders.

When is he back......................?

I agree with this. I didn't want Pulis as I feare that we would play like we have the last few games. However we have actually played some good stuff a ttimes and we are definitely missing Chamakh

My one criticism is that Gayle is not getting more opportunitues in a side that is struggling to hit a cows arse with a banjo

the dignified don't even enter in the game

No not in the slightest. And as for Chamakh I don't get it, why do we play a striker who can't score goals, he might track back and give 100% but who cares, he is supposed to stick the ball in the net !

He is more then that he is a link up man and plays more as an Attacking Mid under Pulis.

Can anyone here say that they've seen one great game at Selhurst park this season ? Most of them have been very cagey and slightly predictable - we have failed to cause a major upset this season ( there is still time of course).

Yes all those games with Holloway in charge and we played like headless chickens and won them all.

Some of you people make me laugh.

Ever heard of a guy called Red Adair ? He was a troubleshooter that specialised in controlling and extinguishing oil fires in Texas.

He wasn't told he had to do it in any particular way, As long as the fire was put out and the field could be made productive, that's all that mattered.

Same now at Palace. Under that muppet Holloway, we would probably only be competing for Derby's low points season score now. Pulis has come in and got things under control. That fire raging out of control under Holloway is being managed, and while not put out yet, he has got into a position where it could be.

Those of you not comfortable with the survival fight in the Prem and hanker after the Championship....be careful what you wish for. Our players are fighting hard for the right to maintain their place in the top flight of their profession - they must be glad that they don't depend on some of you to play alongside them.
