A spirited rant, but what's it got to do with what I asked? Well, Seth, you generously invited him to make a complete fool of himself and it appears that he has speedily accepted your invitation. Words fail me, but I think if you were looking for a cogent response, you may be waiting a while. I make you right syd. There may be just a little too much froth in his mouth to allow him to speak coherently.

Greenham Common? Reading Uni? Blimey SE9 you must be nearly 50. Steady on chap - you'll have a hearty. I am 50 but still the scourge of the left!Problem with people like Syd n Seth(sounds like a lovely couple!)is that cant see a wind up.Im quite happy to say the most extreme things to get them wetting the bed tonight!Im still on the right and make no apologies for that.
You lot dont like a few home truths do you?Once your arguments and brittle humour fall apart Im a w#####r,nutjob etc.Make your own mind up about things rather than following the herd and get a sense of humour.Anyway isnt it about time you started a thread about more muslims at Palace-maybe a reading of the Koran at half time rather than the Crystals! I just thought I'd join in with yer cliches.

It's in the intention and how it is recieved, the intention is that Jewish and non Jewish Spurs fans are supporting the Jewish spurs fans. When Spurs still get songs about gas chambers then I think the intention is honourable. What the hell do they sing Ketteridge? Some kind of 'we won't forget them' type song? Sounds like leaning into a punch, setting up opposition fans for some very nasty responses. And if you really would shout something like 'gas them' EaglesMad then you have a childlike conception of what is acceptable and a complete inability to grasp the shame of our grandparents' generation. Sorry that misses the wider point of what I was saying. If Spurs fans are singing 'Yid Army' to set up opposition fans for nasty response then the intention is not honourable and therefore not acceptable. The point being that any action is judged by intention and how it received by the recipient and society in general. We also need to stop the thinking that Anti-Semitism, Racism etc is of our grandparents generation but an on going problem.
One supporter of hacking argued that without it "you will do away with the courage and pluck of the game, and I will be bound to bring over a lot of Frenchmen who would beat you with a week's practice -Blackheath secretary at first meeting of the F.A |

Probably more valid to ask the question to some one who is n't a white bloke but actually I'm not talking about Palace or football but a the general impression that racism or anti semitism stopped with our Grandad's generation. Wish it was in my head but unfortunatley it is not,

I think this all boils down to intent. In the case of chanting "Yid army" that is very difficult to establish. The chant is meant to self identify a group of supporters, not to cast aspersions on a racial/religious group. As such, intent is missing It is similar to people calling each other "My ******". There are times when the word ****** is a racial taunt and those where it is used in a group for self identification. Yid army is the latter case in my opinion. Prejudice can't exist without intent, and in this case the intent is to foster group identity, not to promote racial hatred.
