I was thinking how cool it would be to have the first openly gay Prem League footballer. Maybe even two. I think we are uniquely placed to live with the consequences, a tight-knit supportive club and group of fans, based in a highly cosmopolitan place. And we don't give a monkey's what anyone else thinks. Any views? I am sure there will be a range.
That's not such a daft point to be honest. Why do men and women have separate changing rooms traditionally... ? To stop lots of perving and potentially shagging I would guess. How does the dynamic of gay people fit into that ??
You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue |

Like the other teams in the Prem I bet Palace already have at least two now. They just need the bravery to come out foe their own sake. So what have we learned so far: 1 It doesn't matter if someone is openly gay, nobody cares Did I get it all correct? Doesn't anyone find it boring being so flaming predictable, can't we all try something a bit radical for a change?

What would be cool, is if a player was gay and no one cared, 35-40 years ago West Brom were cool with Regis, Moses and Cunningham now who cares everyone has moved on.

It scares me the songs that will come from the Holmesdale if this ever happened. Leave it to Brighton, this is their forte. Edited by paperhat (16 Jan 2014 2.23pm)
The reason is that i'm B block Holmesdale as it is and with the jovial taunts of "we know you're shagging Will Young" echoing around, god only knows what would be sung to an openly gay player lmao. This was my point. Surely we are uniquely placed to be able to take the potential flak. Brighton couldn't do this, all the idiots on here going on about surely this is Brighton's role. They already get enough stick, they aren't tough enough to live with such a momentous issue. We are, we could, we would slap down anyone wanting to make it a big issue.
I think this is a sound point - we've got a vocal set of fans - and to be honest I think most of the comments on this thread are very funny. You're not getting it anywhere near as bad as the bloke who wanted to ban the Crystals...

Nah, don't think they are. Most people are just enjoying themselves, rather than getting personal and childish.
