2010 will have to have thick skins for the next couple of weeks. They will have to reach for the 'Tin helmets' at the end of the season if they have spent 'Conservatively' and we are relegated. In actual fact probably well before then if it is obvious that we will be plummeting through the relegation trapdoor. Why so negative? 3 years ago we were nearly out of it for good. Now we have a fair team in the Prem with an exciting time to boot. If this were to be thrown away for a half chance of maybe more 'high' success against a steady axistence, well , with what's at stake, I think things aint so bad. TP must be aware of this, shut the ol' north and accept his not too bad remmitances!

syd...are there certain instances that you can pinpoint that causes your dislike of parish? or situations you think he has handled badly? in generally curious Edited by braunstoneagle (18 Jan 2014 12.07pm) I think if I really tried to pinpoint the reasons for my dislike of Parrish, it would probably say more about me than him if I am honest. He is ostentatious, likes attention, flamboyant and ruthless...I think those are qualities we've both pointed out. I'm not really comfortable with any of them but were I tell you why that's the case, we'd be talking about Syd rather than Parrish. The truth is, he has a right to be what he is and I'm going to hold true to my own values and tastes (the product of my entire life -- not things that can be easily changed); some people are probably just not destined to dovetail. With that said, though, you are right that Parrish has done far more good than harm for Palace -- that is demonstrably the case. But I am worried that he is getting it wrong in the present window, though final judgment needs to be reserved until it's shut.

Pulis wouldav given a list of A B & C targets to parish/moody. Unless your a big club you very rarely get your A signings so you have to wait for the others to come available, for instance, in the last window AJ was holloways B choice, at the last minute that fell thru so we got choice C in Jerome. The markets not moving yet, unless you count Chelsea signing £21m matic but that doesn't help the British market as they have sold de bruyne abroad to conter the matic signing. This is the same for most clubs in most windows...and unless I've missed something, parish hasn't said he won't spend, he's just said he won't mortgage the clubs future which are 2 different things alltogether. P.S> Syd it's not very becoming to talk about yourself in the 3rd person...haha Edited by braunstoneagle (18 Jan 2014 6.15pm)

Shane Long to Hull So that's a total of seven players...the majority of them forwards/attackers/goalscorers signed up by five of our immediate rivals in a window which you think "hasn't yet got moving." About the only team it "hasn't got moving" for yet is Palace so I beg to differ. I am not saying I would have wanted all of those players at Palace (though most of us would have wanted at least a couple of them) but much as I agreed with some of your points earlier, you are wildly wrong on this one.

Not really Syd...two of those players are unknowns from Norway following their former manager for a pittance (not helping the market) 3 were loans...not helping the market again. So you use both Shane long & jelavic as examples...both have moved for large transfer fees of more than £5m and wages of 50k a week...are these really the type of tinpot players you want us to break our wage structure for? As I severely hope not fella. So infact...what your doing is using 2 overpriced and overpaid players to try and make a point about how we should break our wage structure. So in total... Hull have spent double what we have on transfer fees and god knows what on wages...and they are 3 points ahead of us...not the best arguments really is it?

Hull have spent double what we have on transfer fees and god knows what on wages...and they are 3 points ahead of us...not the best arguments really is it? It doesn't matter whether they are loans or not. The market is a market for players moving clubs, and seven players doing so is evidence that the market is moving, loan or permanent deals. You didn't specify, in your original post, that your comment was limited to one or the other type of deal. The bottom line is that all of those clubs involved have improved their chances of avoiding relegation; the type of deal is immaterial. Your opinion -- and/or mine -- of the quality of the players involved is also immaterial. As long as they are players the buying manager thinks can improve his chances, that is all that counts. If Pulis wants a certain player, I wouldn't expect him to change his mind because Braunie or Syd had a different opinion. Jelavic and Long are overpriced? Really? Surely price is simply a case of what someone is willing to pay. Yes, if there's a scarcity (in this case of strikers) the price goes up, but it still represents what you have to pay to get one. The debate is really whether it's worth it and only time will tell. If Hull stay up, I think they would argue it will have been. (By the way, as I said, personally I was not unhappy to miss out on both.)

3 were loans...not helping the market again. Incidentally, I'm sure if we got Zaha back from Man U. on loan for the rest of the season, many here would be delighted with how the market was helping us!

in hindsight john guedetti to stoke may well free up one of their strikers for a move...maybe kenywne jones? incidentially on him theres quite an interesting article here... [Link] and yes... i think every single palace supporter would be over the moon with zaha back on loan!
