This post has been merged from a topic called 'finally the time has come 4 kember 2 pack his bags' by Penge Eagle I'm gutted to see him go, although I knew it was inevitable. I would have loved to see Kember succeed with us. He gave 100% and always tried to play good attacking football, at times this season, despite bad results we constructed some of the best attacking moves I've seen at Selhurst for years. I think it's moronic of you wanting him out so early, fans like you don't appreciate honest hard workers at the club and will only be content when we have a high profile manager. This post has been merged from a topic called 'finally the time has come 4 kember 2 pack his bags' by Penge Eagle Matt lets be fair... Problems aren't always at the top. And when you consider our set plays, defending, attacking moves, you really have to start questioning his ability as a coach as well as a manager. Everyone has mentioned he is a great coach, but to me this is yet to be proven. And the Rubins scenario left questionmarks over a lot of peoples heads. Sad to see him go however because he was a long serving member of the team.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'finally the time has come 4 kember 2 pack his bags' by Penge Eagle No, I agree with you. His team selection this season has been madness, I just think this guy from Gillingham is unbelivable for wanting him out at the start of the season. Like I said, he had to go, but it's a damn shame it didn't work out.

It is sad but Steve Kember had to go. It will be difficult to appoint someone with experience and motivating ability without having the finances to allow him to bring in a couple of decent players.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Kember & Bullivant Gone' by Cucking Funt I know there were a few people on here that said that we needed them both out to suceed because it was partly down to them that we are doing so crap and I guess Jordan now thinks the same. A good decision? The only doubt I have is that bringing in all these new faces may mean that it takes a while for them to pick our best 11 because they don't know the players

I'm gutted he's gone - I really wanted him to do well and honestly thought he would - it's a shame he won't see some of the great work he's done in the youth and reserve teams come to fruition. I wish now he wasn't given the job because it would have been great to keep him at the club. I must also say, I'm not optimistic whoever comes in, just looking at the teamsheet tells a very bleak story and unless we can bring new faces in I can't see us going anywhere above about 15th.

I have to ask, why is kember a hero? Nothing that Palace have done in the years that Kember has been involved has been heroic. Desperate, the relegation decider against Stockport, but not heroic. This season has shown Kember very short of managerial skill, tactically inept and downright pig-headed when it comes to certain players. How many other managers have publically criticized the short-comings of players and left them on the bench, then been surprised when no-one comes in to bid for them? (Rubins. Akinbye, Granville) How many managers send promising young strikers on loan, when the first choice pair couldn't score in a brothel? How many managers would refuse to play Watson, week after week just because (allegedly) he has the hump with him? I hope that Kember and Bullivant have left the club completely, because their influence is a bad one and has been for years. At least the new manager will stand or fall on his own ability and not be forced by Jordan into keeping SK & TB on the staff. Puts some of the recent managerial performances into context though. For those who point out that he was a hard worker, so what ! Hard work alone doesn't get the results if you're working hard in the wrong way! The Palace squad has enough footballing talent to do well in this league, but it needs inspiration and, more importantly, good coaching. We haven't had either for many, many years! I don't particularily want a high profile manager, I want one that can take the team and point it in the right direction. One that won't f*ck up morale by criticising players in public and one that knows how to make tactical changes during a game when they're obviously needed. It's not too much to ask for, is it ???

What do you call a couple of years at Oldham (played 76, won 30, lost 19, drawn 27, avg points per game 1.54) then if it's not experience, particularly when you consider the conditions he has had to work under!
