I can't understand how/why someone would be so nasty. I appreciate I've snapped at people before or been a bit too sarcastic during darker days, but to be that nasty is beyond me.

I've had nasty facebook messages from someone on here before and although it annoys you, it actually shows how pathetic the person is that sends them.

In your case, the person hasn't even got the balls to put their name to it.

Name and shame when you have identified the culprit.
