I do hope that Wise gets the Charlton post - I would be so happy!

Quote BPC1981 at 05 Jan 2011 5.13pm

Palace market totally removed..... Phil Brown 1/8 for the Preston job, whilst down at the circus Dennis Wise is 1/4 to be Charlton manager, a match made in heaven.

An appointment guaranteed to halt their promotion aspirations dead in their tracks.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I will feel bad for you if he does come here, after the exceptional work he's done for you, I'm sure your lot will be in mourning. But hugely excited for us.

Any murmurings down your way of it being true?

Much the same as on here, watching what's been going on on the betting sites. He's been linked with every vacant manager's position since POSH last season. This was the one that really worried me when I heard about your sacking. Easy enough for him to do while still living down this way and he's Dorset born and bred. Whatever your current status financially Palace is still a biggish club and if your board can make him enough promises of investment he might just be tempted.

Our chairman has said there'll be funds available that will enable us to be "competitive in the transfer market". Read into that what you will.

I've been to watch Bournemouth before, know a number of Cherries fans, you're a good club. I hope the possible appointment of Howe doesn't send you spiraling back down again. It wouldn't be fair after what he's done for you, one would hope he's laid adequate foundations for his possible replacement to build on.

I watch Bournemouth regularly as they are only 10 miles down the road from me and I would be over the moon if Eddie Howe was our next manager, what he has done for Bournemouth on a shoestring is nothing short of a miracle.

What style of football does he lean towards?

Have a look here from the Brentford board after our game against them on Saturday. 2nd post down is just one of a few similar

As a palace fan living in Bournemouth i would be over the moon at getting Eddie if it was true. From keeping a team up despite having barely a squad and a transfer embargo, then the season after getting promotion, and then losing Brett Pitman and Josh Mcquoid who were banging goals for them but still being 3rd as of now, and shows a lot of a bottle and a touch of class. Yes he may be in a lower league, but at times he's barely had people on the bench, yet the tactics and self-belief he instilled into his players is second to none. just when people think he and Bournemouth have over-achieved, he proves them wrong again. A brave move but a great move. But hey, that is just my opinion.

You'll hear the hearts breaking from Dorset all the way in South London if you take our hero

I suspect so ForbiddenFruit, he looks like an exceptional manager. To be honest I can't think of many reasons why he would want to leave you at this point in time other than if perhaps he is unhappy with lack of funds? Would your fans ever forgive him if he left? It would be agonizing ..

He really is exceptional as a manager, backed up by the fact that he was pretty special to us as a player too. The fans set up Eddie Share specifically to get him back when we had no money (as usual ). What he's done over the last 2 years when you consider where Jimmy Quinn left us has been nothing short of amazing.

We're hoping that he can see the possibilities of taking us up and, combined with his love for the club, that will keep him with us. Hopefully, Harry, Sean O'Driscoll and Tony Pulis (all ex-managers of ours) will convince him he needs to stay longer too, as they did.

I may be grasping at straws though :-(

Maybe we should leave him where he is and just ask your board for the next up and coming manager?

They do play good passing football, mostly keep the ball on the deck. Very attacking side but can lose concentration at the back. They certainly know how to score goals. Have been impressed with Rhoys Wiggins, Howe can being him with him, along with one or two others

Stay out the way of the Southern thing.

if it is how it looks online at the moment - this would be a very promising and impressive choice of manager.

Well done Parish and Long

Yup, your Academy lad. We had him on loan from Norwich. He loved us. We loved him. Norwich let us have him. Keep your grubby mitts off him too!
