I just want to say one more thing (sorry). I'm not sure where this idea came from that AA is a proven goalscorer. He had quite a good record at Gillingham and Bristol City in lower divisions but so do so many other average players. At Wolves he was only average, often awful, and since then he's been awful all the time. You can easily tell after a couple of games of watching him that he's never going to make it in the Premier and will always struggle in the First Division.

Great start to new management in my eyes (much better than selling Morrison - if only we still had him, a Kember player too).

I think TorontoEagle has got an interesting point about what managers say, but...

Do we really want to go back to the old days when managers rarely said anything interesting? The price to pay for that is that some of the comments are indiscrete or unwise, and of course player's agents will try to capitalise on this (as well as placing their own positive stories in the newspapers).

Kember didn't say that Akinbiyi was a bad player, just that he didn't fit in. As has been pointed out, Alan Smith said much worse, as have other more famous managers. Given the money that these players earn I can quite understand managers getting frustrated, and it must be hard to avoid that being made public.

Has it done any harm? I doubt it, because I am sure Kember had said the same to the player privately. It has probably reassured the fans and some of the other players because we have a clearer idea of what to expect next season, and it gives Akinbiyi time to find a new club if he wants first-team football.

Where's Clint's club history? If you're going to quote facts then make them complete. Also, AA adds absolutely nothing else to a game unlike Morrison.
