Is the official figure for deaths caused by covid of otherwise fit people under 60 years old still at 388? Just throwing that in there for a bit of balance. Just to put this into perspective, during the same period in 2019, 670 people were killed in knife crime. So the statistics say you are almost twice as likely to die as a victim of a knife attack as a fit under 60 year old than you are of Covid. I must remember this next time I’m out in London with my mask on. Edited by Eaglecoops (30 Dec 2020 11.48am) And for extra irony we’ve all been locked down for longer than most of the people who did the stabbing.

The problem is there’s an awful lot of information showing this isn’t any different or worse than any other winter. It’s only when either bbc say it’s as bad as April (but leave out that it’s the same as previous winters), or someone says wards are full, only for someone else in a ward to say they aren’t. Vaccinate all hospital staff and teachers ffs. Going to get more annoying the longer they don’t. That last paragraph surely is a must - Hospital staff / care home staff has to be a must. I just don’t understand why sending all children/young adults back to school / universities doesn’t make this essential?

This has just been posted up on my local Fb page, and refers to our village GP surgery........ why do I find this a bit saucy of them? "To protect patients and staff please only wear surgical masks when attending the surgery for an appointment as they are more effective in the prevention of Covid-19 than cloth ones. If you do not have one on arrival you will be provided with one by a staff member. We request that you purchase your own surgical masks for the future.

The way the government record covid deaths is odd. if you test positive for Covid and then happen to get run over by a bus and die within 28 days of that positive test then its still recorded as Covid In other news, I sunk every penny I had into opening a budget friendly B&B out here in Slovakia, I managed to open for 1 1/2 months in the Winter and about 2 months in the Summer we were sold out and absolute proof that we could make a success of this, that money went towards food, the electrician and gas fitter.

Sorry to hear of your problems but glad the little fellow is doing OK. Will he grow up as a Palace fan?

I’m 55 . At risk? Don’t think so. Fit & healthy. Mum and dad? Wouldn’t last 5 mins if they catch it.
