Defending bankers?

Defending them I'd get rid of them. De-Bank the bankers! Currently driving the economy into recession with aggressive unnecessary rate hikes (a nice little earner for them).

The market should set interest rates.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Interesting,.... Reward for Failure ? "A taskforce to speed up home insulation and boiler upgrades has been disbanded, the BBC can reveal. The group - which included the chair of the National Infrastructure Commission Sir John Armitt and other leading experts - was only launched in March. It was chaired by Alison Rose, who was chief executive of Nat West bank at the time (she was forced out of the bank in July after a row over Nigel Farage's bank account)." (BBC website) So make a major fck-up at your employers expense, get a big pay-out because you resigned before they sacked you,...then land a job with HMG on a cushy little Task Force number. What the fck would she know about energy ?
I disengage, I turn the page. |

What the fck would she know about energy ? Not a one of them had a clue about what was needed and required. Throwing money away by the bucket load to dodgy companies. Started with the best interests at heart but no research into the damage that bad insulation can cause. Hermetically sealed spaces are probably worse than leaky ones. Houses need to breathe.

Okay so if you hate Farage so seek to defend the banks try defending this. My friend is a GP she has worked in the NHS most of her life and can now retire but she has decided to continue serving her community, I think we can all agree we need GPs to continue working. She was born in Russia and holds British and Russian citizenship. Recently her FI asked her to update her personal details online (nothing sinister about this). When she ticked the Nationality box British she also saw an additional field so added Russian, a big mistake. Within 20 minutes her account was frozen and she received an email telling her to call a number. She has now been told that she cannot do online banking and must phone the FI for approval before she does anything simple like sell some ISA shares. I mean what the f***? She is an ordinary person doesn't have links to the regime doesn't even like Putin and is not on any government sanction list but this FI has arbitrarily decided to treat her as hostile. She is upset and regrets ticking the Russian box which in hindsight she did not need to do. So instead of this country thanking her for her service she is made to feel unwelcome. I think I am more upset than she is. PS These FI's are a bunch of C Units. I have said previously I was responsible for managing the sanctions list at Citi I do not understand why they feel it is necessary to punish an individual who is a British citizen and has been far more of an asset to this country than someone like me. Rant over.

Once broadcast, they practically always get an apology, a resolution, and sometimes a keep-quiet bung. BTW, one can hate Farage AND the banks.

BTW, one can hate Farage AND the banks. Agreed. I have suggested she writes to our MP but she is one of these people who grew up in a totalitarian regime. You don't make a fuss or question the authorities. Meanwhile she can't even go back to Russia to see her brother in case either the UK or the Russian government punish her, rock and hard place. Her brother works for a German company just outside Moscow only because of the EU sanctions he has lost his job as they can't export. Always the same, it's the ordinary folk who suffer. I doubt Putin is going short of caviar or champagne and yet his people are having a hard time. If the situation changes I will update this thread.
