Genuine question, which teams do you mean?

Thanks for the name correction Sir. We are not all English. Many of us Palace fans. If 7-0 loss and many otherwise winnable games on which we lost points is OK with you, then our ambitions/horizons for this club are different. We have more than enough talent in the squad to not have to go through these nerve wrecking and humiliating displays. How do other teams with less talent get more accomplished but Roy gets a pass???

The team which thrashed us today lost 7-2 to Villa earlier this season.
Man U lost 1-6 to Spurs
Bad days come to all teams at some point.

You will know we lost 9-0 to Liverpool 30 years ago and then went and beat them 4-3 in the FA Cup semi-final the same year.

Also look at Southampton - thrashed 0-9 at home by Leicester last season then went and beat them 0-1 at the King Power. Look at them now - flying high.

Perspective my friend. I've been supporting Palace for nearly 50 years. We are not a big team. This is our longest run in the top tier. Let's see how we react at Villa and in subsequent games.

We are still 8 points clear of the relegation zone.

If we want to be more than a mid-table premier league team then the American billionaires need to put their hands in their pockets and fund a project to achieve that.

As for Roy Hodgson, he's done well with the resources he has and the limited investment the club had made in the three and a bit years he's been our manager.

You always confirm, that Yanks have very little understanding of football.
Our incompetent manager hasn't seen us in the relegation zone since Feb 2018, that was when he was recovering from the shambles left by De Boer. He has kept us hovering around mid table since then, despite lack of investment and injury crisis's along the way.
He gets recognition from the media, as they understand his achievements a bit more, than you seem too.

At least I recognize football, particularly in this league has become global, in appeal, fan followership and sponsorship. And thus had left geographic locations out of the discussion. You confirm though that your success metric is based on not getting relegated, and mine is the aggregate import of the manager with the resources at his disposal. in your world achievements of teams like Leicester are a fluke. and btw, of course the media loves Roy. thats true. i assume you know why.

I've been fairly consistent in my belief that we need to move on from Roy for a while now. Today doesn't make me want him to leave any more or less though and, in honesty, I was far angrier after our pathetic capitulation to Burnley a few weeks ago.

This was a freak result in which Liverpool scored with seven of their eight shots on target. Most were extremely good, clinical finishes from difficult situations. I actually thought we played fairly well in the first half. To say a 7-0 scoreline is flattering would be the understatement of the century.

My issue with Roy pertains to his overriding tactical negativity, his continued disregard for players like Jairo who we can all see are very good players and his dysfunctional relationship with substitutions, rendering our games borderline unwatchable at times.

However, there have been signs this season, and in recent games, that we can play well and attack dangerously, largely thanks to the addition of Eze, and at our current rate of scoring we'll net an extra 11 goals to last season.

Roy isn't our future but it's not sensible to be too reactionary to results like these, especially after an unbeaten run of three games that could, and should, have produced seven points.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I feel that a new manager be drafted in, finish the season with him, he learns what he has to work with, who he wants, doesn't, etc, and rebuild this summer and next winter.

Roy cannot go on for ever. I feel when you hit a certain age, generally speaking, your mindset changes - could be negative, could be passive... I do feel you lose something.

Roy needs a couple of good results, pat on the back, a good bit of pr saying he selected the replacement and let us move on.

for me, personally... I would have taken Fat sam back for a couple of years. Just to get that spark back whilst the board look for potential longer term targets.

either way - roy, thank you and good bye.

Happy Saturday everyone - had this weird dream / nightmare last night. My team got stuffed 7.0 at home by today’s opponents and then Boris came on tv and said we were going into tier 4 and Christmas was cancelled. We all know there isn’t a tier 4 and as for us letting in 7 goals - No chance! Must get on with some ironing before settling down for the match - Have a good day everyone ;-)
