I have certainly disagreed with Mr Stirling on occasions and agreed with him on others. I like having contrary views to mine put on here for discussion and debate. Let's not ever descend into anything like the BBS politics forum where any disagreement with the general tone is personalised in an attempt to bully. In my view

You could say I agree with a significant downsizing of the BBC certainly. I have stated this previously. However, it isn't 'semantics' to say that I want to abolish the BBC, that is simply your hyperbolic interpretation and not what I've said.

What are you on about? It's clear that the BBC pushes an agenda while claiming to be an honest and neutral broadcaster. That has to stop. The fact that we are bound to pay for it by law is also completely out of touch with the 21st century. Certainly the BBC has elements that are outstanding, but they could run a commercial channel for news and fiction and an optional licence fee channel which shows only documentaries and other non political, non fiction programmes. That latter is what the BBC does best. If you can’t understand the post I’m not sure I can help you but I wasn’t addressing you. You’re quite rude. I’ve addressed all the points you’ve just raised in an earlier post so instead of rushing to defend your pal perhaps go back in the thread and respond to that.

But it absolutely is not exclusive to the left. The populist right that Sterling occupies operates in almost exactly the same way, that’s the irony of it all. They virtue signal, they play identity politics & they smear everyone they disagree with in the same manner as the wokies, trust me. I don’t really know Stirling but assumed he was just a guy who like you say, I agree with on occasion and disagree with on others. Yet the minute I questioned him on something he resorted to calling me "woke". The right virtue signal about "LAW AND ORDER" and how patriotic they are and play the exact same identity politics. They’re 2 cheeks on the same arse.

Keep it down, lads. Eurovision is on BBC1. Sat down at watched that last night, for the first time EVER. Met up with some European friends who we have not seen in nearly a year so it was an event in itself but traditionally they always throw a party for it, which my wife attends but I always bail out. And next year, I revert to type. f*** me, what a load of utter stinking s***e. They told me that apparently, the UK, along with German, Spain, France and Italy, pay a shed load of money so that it can go ahead and thus don't have to 'qualify for the final? Which offends me on multiple of levels. How can it be a 'competition if you can buy your way into the finals? And if the BBC are coughing up X amount of money for it then surely you want to make more of an effort in the song you put up? The UK entry was, at best, a good Karaoke singer. See him down the Red Lion, pissed up and belting out a few tunes, and he might win the £25 Aldi's voucher on offer for the least offensive one up on stage that night. But in an international competition? If he was the best we had to offer then I hate to think how rubbish the act that came second was in (what I assume?) the UK heats to choose our entry. As for the rest, then I shudder. For that reason alone, I would abolish the BBC tomorrow. Leave means Leave. And that includes Eurovision.

I simply changed with the times while you're still holding onto a past that doesn't exist anymore and complaining about it. There are definitely arguments against identity politics and I use to argue against it myself....but I'm afraid they lost the discussion some time ago....as the law attests to. As for smearing, you haven't stopped on this thread. Yes, I called you woke and when you complained I apologised....but you haven't stopped whining about it since have you. What I understand is that you have just started posting on the politics thread, and you need to wind it in a bit. Meanwhile, the BBC needs reining in. That is clear. They appear to have a similar attitude to the one you have shown so far on this thread. A sneering holier than thou attitude with delusions of intellectual superiority. There has to be a recognition that the British public no longer trust or believe in the BBC mentality. They do not fairly represent the average person.

Delusion on your part that you think your views represent the British public. The anti-BBC feeling on here (along with pretty much every pretty political position) is not reflective of the country as a whole.

Wow....how delusionary is it for the Corbyn supporter to talk about someone else being out of touch with public opinion. After the election you were literally on here asking people why Labour lost. As a B category soap actress I wonder how she became so well connected to former US presidents and mega media owner/ stars but I still don't know how our 'establishment' didn't see her coming? Edited by Henry of Peckham (22 May 2021 8.44pm) I think they did she her coming and tried to warn Harry. Unfortunately Harry seemed to listen to “Willie” and I don’t mean his brother
