Murray, and I'm one of his biggest fans, is not the answer any more if we want to progress we need Austin, Cabeye and another quality cb. Imo Edited by wainesworld (08 Jul 2015 10.36pm)
Agree. Cabaye would be an amazing addition if he performs like he did at Toon but is not a match winner on his own. We need additional quality up front to allow him to shine

Kelly is not the answer at CB either. Edited by wainesworld (08 Jul 2015 10.36pm) You may be right. You may be wrong. The thing is, we really don't know that right now. The question is, do we want to find out? If we can bring in a CH (Williams, Chester, etc.?), I would be sorely tempted to loan Kelly out to a top Championship side for the season on condition that they start him at centre half every week. Let him learn and develop at the position in a competitive environment, rather than trying to do it on the training ground or off the bench here. He needs to play at this point in his career, not sit. Let me be clear, I would do that NOT because I don't want Kelly at Palace...I do, and I think he has a good future here...but because it may be the fastest way of turning him into the player we need him to become long-term. We have enough depth, with one or two more signings, to weather a year without him and if we got back an accomplished centre half with a year of playing the position under his belt, we'd be much better off in twelve months time. If we don't sign anyone, the above of course changes. In that case, I think he and Delaney will have a pretty competitive battle pre-season for the shirt. I'd say Delaney is probably in possession now and the better player today, but Kelly clearly has more potential. It may be that in the above case we just play him and let him learn on the job, accepting the odd mistake (and scoring three goals ourselves whenever he makes one.)

We need additional quality up front to allow him to shine He was when he played against us for Newcastle. Well, I'd suggest Punch has been our match winner for two seasons now, but when I asked the question "is Cabaye significantly better than Puncheon" I was told by people on here "yes". Therefore I'm hoping Cabaye, for 10mil is going to be a match winner, surely that's why we've signed him?

Please stop with the balanced, well thought out, intelligent posts and please just state Parish is a tight fisted old miser, hamstringing the club for his own personal gain, bemoaning the fact we aren't playing Guerdiola or that the pitch is s*** and its Parish's fault. Totally agree - First time I saw Kelly I thought CB...and if we need to short circuit that by a loan to aid development in a good standard then I would be all for it and use Hangeland as the 'cover'...not withstanding it wouldn't surprise if we bough in a CB

Dont mean to piss on anyone's fire of excitement, but its all well and good Palace bidding and maybe even getting the high profile names, but my only concern is i remember the start of the season last year and HULL were getting all these decent signing now look at them. i trust Pardew is a better manager than Bruce, just hope these signing excite the likes of punch and yala and zaha and doesnt ruin our team togetherness.

Cabaye is better than anyone that Hull signed, he's the complete midfielder.
