I just feel that little players have the passion anymore to player for their countries.
The Champions League will soon overtake the world cup in terms of popularity. The worldwide support for the top teams is growing in its millions every year. I am sure that if the Premier League wasn't such a good global brand the top few teams would break off with the top teams in Europe and form European leagues. There has been a lot of talk in the past of this in Spain ( the problems in Spain at the moment are more likely to make Barca and Madrid like the idea) and Bayern Munich have talked about it. The only thing preventing it is they need Man Utd, Chelsea etc to get on board (which they haven't). Personally I am not against this. I do not believe at all that the premier league would be devalued by it. In fact the clamour for the league would be greater with more teams being able to win it and the football continuing to be exciting, whilst the European fixtures each week would be unbelievable. Yes you would have 'super clubs' but this would then deal with the international market (the 'tourists' as many call them)as well as drive the home market in terms of the level of fixtures. The remaining teams would then still have a great product and this would satisfy those 'haters' of the 'big boys' and all they stand for, leaving the 'traditionalists' to keep 'their football'. Basically, you can tell us to get lost and go play somewhere else. I am sure that would appeal to a lot of people on hear
But domestically the money would be drastically reduced, as Sky would want to plough all the money into the Super League, leaving at lot of clubs in a dire situation where would that leave football? I think the first thing EPL need to worry about is losing the 4th spot, with recent results the Italian league are fast up with regard to obtaining an extra place (they previously lost this I believe), Wouldn't that put the cat among the pigeons! Interesting point. I am not sure it will be drastically reduced as I would assume two things: 1/ If the top 5/6 left the premier league I guess an agreement to redistribute some of the new money would be put in place (definitely in the short term) 2/ Because it is a European league all the big TV companies across Europe would pay large amounts of money to broadcast the league and other European leagues would also expect financial recompense The league itself would be bigger than the world cup in terms of financial incentives/rewards. The knock on affect would be a total restructuring and it wouldn't surprise me if within 3/4 years there would be multiple European leagues. Palace may not play Chelsea but they could play Marseille, Napoli, Valencia, and if there was a European cup competition for European league sides you could draw Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. Commercially this makes sense. Platini is relaxing the financial fair play rules. Why? Because he is scared of the financial power of the premier league. The only way to nullify that is to create a European League. Barca and Real Madrid are going to be hit financially in the coming years as they have to collective bargain their TV deals. On the back of this Messi really could come to Chelsea!!

Manosdedios - I owe you an apology. I missed this post. In response to your remarks: EPPP - load of sh*te; ridiculous that the big clubs are able to cherry-pick the best talent from the smaller clubs for a minimal fee. Actually the fees aren't minimal. They are very high if you look at them closely. Additionally, I am not aware of Palace losing any player of significance under the EPPP rules. I would also add that the EPPP establish categories. Category 1 clubs are in a much better position to develop players than category 2, Category 2 are in a better position than Cat3 and so on. Youth Development - ours has been brilliant in the last few years and I hope we don't lose that now we are establishing ourselves in the prem. Yours doesn't exist. Yours has produced some top players in the past but now there don't seem to be any coming through. Is it really as good as you think? In fact we I believe we have played more youth players than you this season.
Your club is a run very well financially, although I think promotion helped!! Additionally our owner has been with us longer than any of yours in recent history, so its hardly a toy for him. You also seem to about to sell out to an American Hedge fund consortium?? Penalties / Diving - referees cannot wait to give clubs such as yourselves penalties, and are very happy to turn a blind eye if it's going against a top 4 side. I really think it's something that needs addressing. Oh, and all your players are diving, cheating scumbags, so that doesn't help the referees much to be fair. Well, after your weekend game against Liverpool I sure you now regret saying this. An offside goal and a penalty that never was!! Edited by chelski (18 May 2015 10.02am)
You got too dubious decisions that turned the game. Hence that kills the whole idea that refs benefit the bigger clubs.

Oh blimey you are joking right?!?!? Of course its fair. It was a stupid thing to do but it was hardly serious foul play. It was a booking to be honest but I can understand the ref sending him off.

Enough said.http://www.footyplace.com/football-opinion/premier-league/poll-referees-do-favour-top-clubs-09122336 Blimey, Graham Poll?!?!? LOL I'd rather look at facts then speculative opinion on sub-conscious ref decisions from a useless ref who likes to court controversy and thrives on publicity. The FACTS, In the 2014-15 seasons the following clubs had more penalties awarded for them then Chelsea. Manchester City, Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, CRYSTAL PALACE, Manchester United. Also take into account the blatant penalties we haven't been awarded that have subsequently be proven to be penalties. Fabregas against Southampton (ref admitted mistake) Additionally take in to account that the top clubs have the best dribblers, have a higher rate of possession in the attacking third and create more chances, there is NO evidence to suggest that big clubs are favoured. On the contrary it appears the opposite is occurring. Enough said!!
