By March several million should've been vaccinated and these will all be the most vulnerable in society. Logically cases will still be high, but my hope is that hospitalisations and deaths are low, in which case it should be the key to just carrying on as normal. I've given up trying to second guess the governments approach though at any point in time so who knows! Not sure how that’s going to happen though. At the moment only one vaccine has been approved here and that has caused some nasty side effects although I grant in small numbers. We only ordered a small amount of this vaccine as all the govmt and their mates are heavily invested in the Oxford vaccine. For some reason it appears to have gone a bit quiet on this. All this means is that the country is very likely to stay in this lock downed state for many months to come which is impossible to sustain economically and will probably be rebelled against at some point as the handling of the whole matter has been appalling and people have had enough. The current vaccine requires special handling and any GP surgery has to use it in 900 doses in 3 days so only the bigger surgeries are really interested. The Astra Zeneca one is a lot easier to manage so will allow more surgeries to take it up. As the weather improves the government could organise mass outdoor sessions. With all that said they will do well to offer everyone a vaccination by this time next year.

Edited by Eaglecoops (20 Dec 2020 1.33pm) Further vaccines should be approved imminently - the Oxford vaccine is likely to be approved before the end of the year. I appreciate that it's a bit of a 'riding by the seat of our pants' situation. My thought is that if we on one hand undermine or are suspicious of the vaccine, but on the other bemoan not getting back to normal, we should probably re-evaluate our thoughts on the former. It makes sense for at least the over 70s to receive this vaccine all things considered. Once that has happened I can't see how our lockdown loving government could keep pushing the economy further over the cliff if there much less consequence to covid-19 infection in unvaccinated groups.

Will have to see how things go I guess. So many things have been botched so far, that it'd be nice for something to eventually go to plan.

Have a cut off at a mortality rate or a percentage of the population as well. I’ve spoken to a couple of people claiming they’re vulnerable and in fact they aren’t. If you didn’t receive a shielding letter from the doctor or over whichever age they select then you shouldn’t be in any vulnerable list if that’s what it had to come down to.

I’m not as confident as you on the government. The summer furlough and hospitals effectively closed all summer was ridiculous.

Or juggle the ball half the length of the pitch before smashing the ball in the goal.
