I think the plans are an eventual total of 40,000, not 40,000 within the next few years. It'll be possible once 3 stands are rebuilt and maybe not even then since corporates earn more money than fans. It may require corner filling that we never end up doing unless needed.

We only got over 50,000 once and that was when we played Burnley and won 2-0 to ensure promotion. We did get crowds of over 30,000 many times even when we were down in the old 4th Division.

Hell we even got over 15,000 for an FA Youth Cup Final.

the players/managers/chairman.... they come and go. but the club, the stadium and its fans stays forever..

if we were to go down who cares???
at least we wouldnt have the same stadium head ache next time we're promoted, why not aim high??
who knows where will be in ten years time. for all you know we could need bigger than 40k in 15 years???

its nice to know its there just incase...............

Hmmm crowds of 18,000 in a 40,000 seat stadium when we again relegated. Stevie boy - what are you like?

33,000 will be fine for us considering our highest ever average attendance is just shy of 30,000.

Anyways, it won't happen. The salesman has hot air coming out of more than one orifice.

I'm sure that I remember being squashed in like sardines during a cup match in the seventies and from my unreliable memory I'm sure it was against Sheffield Wednesday where we had over 50,000 in

It's not going to be 40,000 this year, next year or any year in the next 5 years. It's an eventual size we may get to so would seek planning permission now so structures could incorporate more.

It'll be more like 26,000 to 30,000 for a long while yet.

Just had a look at top 20 attendances at Selhurst , I was at 17 of them and that don’t include the the Wimbledon v Leeds replay which was 44,000 odd , the Sheffield Wednesday FA Cup game is a strange one , would be lucky to top 15,000 for Cup tie these days

Your memory is rubbish

Nah we have 52,000 v Burnley and a 49,000 v Chelsea (or was it Arse?) and a 45,000 v Liverpool (FA Cup so probs that one you are thinking about)

The Premier League club have seen themselves left behind their rivals having been restricted in their matchday revenue potential by their current 26,000 stadium.

Crystal Palace are looking to redevelop their Selhurst Park stadium

Palace have even looked at the possibility of building a new stadium elsewhere in the area - but now seem close to deciding staying at their home of 93 years is the right decision.

The club and Croydon Council have been locked in discussions over the past year over the feasibility of expanding Selhurst Park.

And now they are one the verge of lodging a formal planning application early next year with the view to bringing their old ground up to modern standards.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “This side of Christmas there will be a major announcement.

“We have been working very hard for a long time to try and get the right idea and we think we have now got it.

"When I came into this thing, the aim was to bring something for all of us to be proud of on the pitch and very importantly off the pitch.

“We want to give everybody in Croydon and South London a stadium that we can all be proud of and not lose our atmosphere and uniqueness.

Plans have to be issued before anyone can comment on them. The ball is firmly in CPFC's court

A lot of fans are saying this. But Parish took it upon himself to make outlandish announcements at a fan event to try and retrieve his reputation of hero and saviour so surely the chap has every right to respond publicly.

So how do we know that a Site Master plan isnt already winging its way to the Council? Or wont before the Plans are revealed...

The tweet was poor and could've been handled far more appropriately.

Should the plans be announced and no site Master Plan submitted THEN and only THEN should it be a public issue.
