He's on a ridiculous contract at QPR. He wanted the same or better terms if he moved. I'm sure Palace were interested, but our contracts have a lot of performance related clauses. He's a greedy boy and has stayed so he can get a massive signing on fee once his contract runs out next year, or if QPR get promoted fleece Fernandez for even more £££!
Wow ...he'll be a very happy "greedy" chappie then! No wonder he stayed at QPR.

No wonder he stayed at QPR. if as suggested on here he is still on the 25k some have said then given what some have been getting paid for doing diddily squat whilst he has been performing just brings him into line with that he should have been earning for the duration of his tenure at qpr! hes not going to harm his choice of clubs by banging in 25 goals in the championship this season.

Why is this thread still going?..Think its time to move on from this one! From a signing for Palace point of view, yes. But Austin's failure to attract a single real bid in six months is an interesting topic for conversation.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 I have to admit that QPR being soundly punished by FA for outstanding investigational charges, could be a healthy stance for football in the whole. Let us go for the principle rather than deeds by cash.

I did say on here or another thread can't remember where, that his agent was trying on deadline day to make a deal with Newcastle happen with Rolando Aarons going the other way, but Newcastle rejected it out of hand, Mike Ashley might be a dick but he's not stupid no way is he going to splash £15m on a player who has less than a year on his contract.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 Austin was on 28k at QPR, but was renegotiating in December 2014 for 50-60k. Has a year left on his contract so maybe QPR have agreed a deal in principle or that they'll make an offer in December based on where they are (and likelihood of going up). If they're struggling to look like going up, they'll find it hard to keep him with six months, 28k and the prospect of no fee.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 He retweeted an article where the headline was he turned down a bid from CPFC. I suspect we offered money + player but both players couldn't agree personal terms.

He will not move now until next summer. He is hoping for a big signing on fee, as he will be out of contract. That's if it is true as according to Steve Parish we expressed interest in him earlier in the window but didn't actually submit a bid later on when all of the media were going Austin mad. Having finished tenth and signalled our intentions for this season by signing Cabaye I can't really see him turning us down for footballing reasons
