Agree sounds ideal. Good luck with finding someone who can do all that yet for some reason is available.

Don't have to be available, jsut have to be gettable. We might forget at times, but outside the top 20/30 EU jobs. A middling Prem club is going to be highly sought after.

As with player recruitment, we just need to be prepared to fish in different ponds vs the usual list of candidates. De Zerbi for example, very few had heard of him but look at how well he's doing now.

Just as a point of interest regarding Slot, which fits in/answers some of your thoughts above, Slot took over from Advocaat at Feyenoord. Advocaat was very pragmatic and defensive with the way he got the team to play. Slot is credited with havning the same players playing his style of football:

`The team look completely brand new and are playing a beautiful brand of football in pure cohesion, almost as if the players have been together all their lives in the same side. Even Arne Slot himself will be surprised by how quickly the players have adapted to his philosophy of the game`

Suffice to say if certain managers are sought by a few PL clubs, we might not be deemed as attractive to them as some of the others.
For instance, we could well lose out in competition with W.Ham.

Absolutely agree, the same with FdB.

There's no point having a philosophy that does not account for or even completely disregards the limitations or unique capabilities of the squad.

It would be a bit like Pulis insisting on launching the ball into the box from a throw in with an U'10s team. That may have worked with Delap in your team but no 10 year old is gonna achieve the same result.

Gianluigi Buffon is thought of as one of the best goalies of all time, our memories of him would be very different had a manager insisted on him being a target man up front due to his height and the style he wanted to play.

Roy's pragmatism may be the best thing we could hope for at this time and need in lieu of PV showing anything remotely close. Going forward we need a realist who can push us forward, not an idealist who reverses us towards catastrophe.

A lot of what FDB was trying to do is now in the style it was the approach which was the issue.

Lets not forget the crybaby players who some are still at the club and cant pass very well still.

I expect FDB was promised more and didn't get it as well with him arriving late to the club didn't help what was it close to end of pre season he came into the club.

I expect us to go for a manager who has Prem experience.

The thing is the club is run with lack of ambition you can see it throughout the club when you look at the level of staff unless they change this it wont matter who the manager is (this is why Potter i could see rejecting us Brighton had very good staff wise setup which is why recruitment has been good whats palaces some ex players)

Clearly Slot is an excellent manager, and got great results. But so have Potter and Cooper (from relegation form in championship to PL promotion) Forrest might stay with Cooper even if they get relegated. So it's Potter for me.

With the money he’s had out of Chelsea, Potter more likely to become owner of Palace, not manager !

LOL he wasn't paid that much.

The media has come out with some silly figures of claims one minute he was on 60m over 5 years then it was 50m.

Next they claimed he would be paid all of that for being fired not going to happen.

Mourinho for example who has been sacked from 3 prem clubs had received around 40m in total (not even going to get into tax etc and how Jose is a different level manager which matters)

I think his name is spelt P o t t e r? ! He just wasnt given the time needed at Chelsea? He had a dozen new players to build into a team by next Saturday. At Palace we already have some great young players, especially if Olise stays? And there's a very promising group of young academy players who need a chance to shine. We need a new RB or RBW .We already have promising young strikers like Umeh or Gordon, who might do the job, if given the chance

Potter went to Chelsea as not one of the elite managers with a succussful CV in terms of winning trophies. He was the Brighton manager whose team finished 15th, 16th and just over halfway in the PL.

When he joined Chelsea they were 6th and he departed with them languishing in 11th place so he never 'Hit the ground running'.Performances were below expectations as were results in the PL, however he did take Chelsea into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.Supporters were not impressed and some of the 'Phone-Ins' left one in no doubt that they wanted him to be shown the door.Potter himself just looked as though he wanted to be away from the club.

I was not surprised to hear the news that Chelsea had parted company with him and this might have been a relief to him.

The owner is barking mad, took on the job of DOF and just bought ridiculous amount of players. So many, there was not enough room in the training ground dressing rooms. Not all Potters fault imo.
