What I struggled with watching Palace on Saturday and for most of this season us that if you watched the Southampton v Leicester match after our game they were both giving it 100% Southampton to hold onto 1:0 and Leicester trying to get back into it. Not saying they played well but they both went at it to get a result. We on the other hand played it at snails pace and never went at Villa to try and get an equaliser. We didn’t press them at all and because our build up is so slow it just plays into the opponents hands. I do believe this is more down to how PV sets us up as well as an unbalanced team. It needs changing and soon but does PV know how to do this? Have to agree. Watching the Saints game and also Forest v Everton there were 3 teams below us in the table who all really went for it. Wasn't always great football but they all put a shift in and chucked bodies into the box etc. We can't suddenly start performing come April.

This all begs the question, WTF do they do in training ? No intensity, no pressing, letting the opposition have an easy ride pretty much all game. They just seem to stroll around expecting things to happen. It matters little who we play after these so called harder games are out of the way because if that doesn't change we will lose alot of those as well, especially judging by the way the teams below are playing, they seem up for a fight where as we don't seem to realise the perilous position we are in, or perhaps (and more scarily) they do but just don't have the fight in them. We are in deep doggy doo and after Saturday for the first time think we are down unless we replace PV, and it hurts to say that, so wanted him to do well. On a brighter note, the Championship is more fun as a fan anyway !

If motivation is a problem, then here's a thought... How about a training game or 3 against the Palace women's side? Let them get thrashed by the highly motivated women once or twice and just watch that testosterone start to flow...

We are in a big mess, all the complacency over our so called cushion of six points will be shattered with three heavy defeats coming our way in the next three games, after which we could well be in the bottom three.

If you think the Women's team would even give us a game then we are in a worse state than I thought. They need a lot more of the Sean Derry treatment and less of Vieira's kid gloves ...

Difficult as it is, we have to exercise patience...avoid relegation and a big recruitment push in the summer. Of course it could all come badly unstuck...

I had a coffee and a jolly good chinwag today with a gentleman from the media and the subject turned to PL relegation.

Lol 2 dinosaurs that will lead us nowhere , come on , if we sack PV we don’t need to go to past if PV can’t score with our strikers how the hell will Roy do it ? See the state he made Watford into? We stuffed 4-1 at their place when he was once charge ! Any talk of previous managers coming back is ludicrous and knee jerk reaction ! The bottom lot have severely tough games aswell I won’t be suprised after next 3 games we still 5 points clear , then we kick on COYP

Ther Times today have done a table of the nine teams from 12th position downwards. Over the last 5 games we are the worst performers (well, we all knew that) and Wolves the best but we are equal with Wolves, West Ham and Forest in fewest games lost (2). Equal with Southampton, Leeds and Everton with fewest goals scored (3) and equal with Wolves with fewest goals conceded (5) This indicates we are all much of a muchness but if we continue to keep goals against as now and maybe snatch a few lucky strikes we ought to be safe, but with 12 or 13 games to go it really is in the melting pot. Certainly if we perform any worse we are in trouble.
