I doubt Parish is going that route after the FdB affair but I think our refusal to go abroad seriously sells us short. There are some terrific coaches in world football and we have the lure of Premier League money. We should be going all out in foreign markets but it's very doubtful imo. Parish previously said that he wants Prem experience in a new manager but if the rumoured interest in Cooper and Ismael is true, then he's willing to bend on some of the requirements. Agree he's been burnt by FdB, but the general idea was right with that whole process - just got the appointment wrong (minor detail of course). Edited by Frickin Saweet (27 May 2021 3.58pm)

In actual fact, and whilst he plainly has done wonders for Leeds, his magic can be hit and miss. He walked out on Lazio after two days, prompting legal action against him by the club. Lille have just won the French league, but the first job their victorious coach had to deal with was tidying up after Bielsa had made a DeBoeresque bodge of the job. Where we do need to copy Leeds is not in getting a genius, idiosyncratic, borderline headcase of a coach necessarily, but in just getting the right man for the time and place. I wouldn't get hung up on any particular characteristics, experiences, skills or profile when looking for our next manager. I don't believe Leeds were looking for a candidate exactly like Bielsa when they got him - they just wanted the best guy they could get, then backed him as best they could, then kept their fingers crossed. It fails far more often than it works, but that's nevertheless the way to do it. Edited by TheBigToePunt (27 May 2021 5.14pm)

I'd go Nuno Santo. Has finished a couple of times 8th with Wolves which is about as high as a non top 6 team can go bar Leicester Btw - Fdb lost his first 4 league games and Roy his first 3. One difference is that Zaha came back v Chelsea Edited by Vincehair (27 May 2021 5.20pm)

He only joined Wolves because of the funding in place, before that he was at big clubs and will want to be again. Another difference between FDB and Roy is that the former alienated a great many players from the outset, informing them they were surplus to requirements before they had even played a game. One could argue that Roy was just as rigid in his beliefs as FDB, but Roys beliefs were appropriate to our squad.

As I have been awarded a stainless steel sink drainer in recognition of my 5 years service as a part-time cleaner on alternate Tuesdays by my employer, Lower Addiscombe Spud-u-like, I am regretfully declining Mr.Parrish's generous offer of a 5 year deal to manage Crystal Palace FC.

Nuno was apparently sacked by Wolves so they have a high opinion of themselves- maybe Nuno dosent Edited by Vincehair (27 May 2021 7.24pm)
