I would also anticipate some holiday caravan parks to be used. Those that have some degree of insulation and heating. They are mostly empty in the coming months, but still present problems as do the hotels because their staffing levels drop off too and cannot just be turned on at a flick of a switch. Providing sufficient security would be a nightmare and I expect there will be plenty who walk out. Some holiday parks have been requisitioned here by the Council for difficult to place locals searching for rented accommodation. The kind of people who cannot pass referencing and declare themselves homeless! A problem that is sure to grow in the coming months I was wondering whether Butlins had been considered, that would teach them! Could be a way of persuading them that Albania is a better option Edited by Spiderman (04 Nov 2022 8.58am)

At the very least should weed out the Albanians Many years ago, probably late eighties/early nineties when there was an influx of Sri Lankans, they used a disused Cross Channel Ferry as a temporary detention location ( can’t remember the name) however it was cast adrift in a storm, so all had to be rescued and it was never used again

I remember going to Tenerife from Gatwick years ago- we took off and 10 mins later were landing- we thought wow, aircraft have got so much faster since last year! It was Manston- about 20 people got on and we took off again- on the return journey the same thing happened- weird! Why did 20 people get on at Manston to fly to Gatwick?

The BBC and the Guardian silly. There's many more than that who can be trusted not to deliberately wind up their readership and make things worse. You can target your editorial approach at a particular market but still do it in a trustworthy and responsible way. The problem with the Mail is that many of it's readers still think it is the serious newspaper it was in my youth.

Well that's very patronising to DM readers. But it's an your opinion, not a fact as such, everyone entitled to an opinion. I don't often look at the DM website but seems to be one of the most popular in terms of views.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
