BBC just posted that we were in for Austin but he turned us down. Probably did us a favour! A big favour....that's the best news of the day.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 I'll bet that Austin deal fell through due to the issue of wages as why else would he not want to join a preferred and ever-more-increasingly-on-the-build London based Prem. team, now 2nd in table. QPR spent ridiculously on their players and I therefore guess that the non-sustainable,high life has hit Charlie's head. January transfer window for sure when he eventually realises that the streets adjoining Loftus Road are no longer paved with gold.

If Palace had bid for him, he would have ripped his arms off to sign, earlier in the window he was desperate to get away from QPR saying the price tag was too high, [Link] truth is Palace were never really interested in him, Steve Parish said in July "Crystal Palace have distanced themselves from signing Austin, admitting that the fierce competition for the striker’s signature could rule them out of any potential move" [Link] plus his outrageous wage demands didn't help. Also only last week Alan Pardew made it clear "he was not interested" in Austin when asked if he would be bidding before window closes. [Link]

Or maybe he's just happy to spend a season trying to help get his club ( that have set up his family financially for life), showing a bit of loyalty possibly.

So fierce he couldn't decide which of the many offers to accept and prefers championship football ?

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 He's on a ridiculous contract at QPR. He wanted the same or better terms if he moved. I'm sure Palace were interested, but our contracts have a lot of performance related clauses. He's a greedy boy and has stayed so he can get a massive signing on fee once his contract runs out next year, or if QPR get promoted fleece Fernandez for even more £££!

So fierce he couldn't decide which of the many offers to accept and prefers championship football ? QPR have confirmed they had no firm offers for Austin. So the only conclusion is. "No-one wanted him and that includes Palace"
