Im praying we get Howe but my main concern is how long its taking to get someone in, I know you cant just panic and put any old manager in charge but nearly half of the transfer window has gone now and we pretty much need a new defence.
Pack your suitcase Eddie and get the f*** down to Beckenham NOW. Thank you.

Its only the 9th lol

Yeah it is but by the time we get someone, they figure out who they want, the deal is put in place and all that crap it can take time, and thats just 1 player.Plus he needs to get all his decor sorted in his new office first.
I can see there being a couple panic buys where the new boss hasn't had any time whatsoever to work out what he needs and who he needs. But I suppose thats to be expected at such short notice. Then again Im sure hes always got a shortlist of players who he likes too.

who did you have in mind?

"I'd like a manager that has some credible record/career of playing/working at the highest level possible" doesn't describe Chris Hughton, Eddie Howe or ANY REALISTIC target for the next Crystal Palace manager.

Given the current crop of available managers that we COULD sign up. Of the two who has the better CV? I would decribe Chris Hughtons CV more than respectable.

Chris Hughton CV

yes it's respectable, but would you say it was a CV that reaks of "working at the highest possible level"-

your words, not mine.

And i'd also counter with-

-Eddie Howe has experience of fighting his way out of a relegation battle with no money and a points deduction.

-Chris Hughton has pissed the Championship with a Premier League squad and a large pot of cash behind him.

Which of those two pots do we fall into?

It's not all about reinforcing the squad we have ...some of our tactics are a bit dodgy and when have we played consistently as a team?

We threw away the first 45 mins yesterday (...it was a horror story on the radio!) but then perhaps we should have won it in the last 15 minutes?

the rumours off the bbs may be true - but if it is coming from Sandowneagle I would take it with a pinch of salt. The fella has not predicted anything right under cpfc2010 and has failed to call on the biggest stories - ie Davids. As someone has posted - he is a supposed "insider" for Palace so god knows how he knows the size of the deal Charlton are putting forward.

Remember this is the same source who said Alan Lee was on 15k a week with us.

With the greatest respect I think his CV shows he's worked at the highest level possible, Premier League and Internationally. Aside from Champions League there's isn't much left. Remember its who's available to possibly manage Palace. I also said Credible record of working at the highest level. Which it does you cant argue with that.

Having a premier league squad does not guarantee success or an immediate return!? There are countless examples of this not being true. The Toon were in crisis when he took over and were relagated. The following season they stormed the championship. Eddie Howe got Bournmouth up from League 2 and managing well in league 1 with limited resources. However there is a HUGE gulf in class in those two scenario's. The CCC is the hardest league to get out of. Having a premier squad does not mean an instant return. The Newcastle job in a much much hard job to contend with. CH wasn't lucky he had to make a team of PL standard adjust, work and be effective to life in the CCC. having to manage the pressures, ego's and stressors of huge club like Newcastle.

So would I rather have someone with international and premier league experience, who managed a monster club like Newcastle getting them promoted early over a young pretender with limited or little experience? yes I would.

Neither could guarentee success should they be appointed.

I could be wrong, but it's quite clear to me Eddie is mulling over our offer and our offer only.... Unless he's had two interviews with us, spoken to Charlton, spoken to Burnley, then shot over to Ipswich, taken training and completed Bournemouth's match against Plymouth all in the space of a few days, which has included Burnley approaching Paul Lambert (meaning he'll be second choice there). It's pretty obvious Palace have offered him the position and it's up to him now.

The only other team he's possibly met face to face with is Charlton. However, I can't see him moving to Charlton. Moving clubs is a hard enough decision for him, let alone potentially jeopardising Bournemouth's promotion push by moving to a rival club in their division and possibly screwing the club he cares so much for.

It's a move to Palace or he stays at Bournemouth. As Spikey said before, nobody knows what's going to happen bar him and I'm not sure he's even made his mind up yet either. I think Parish has worked his magic and represents the sort of chairman he'd like to work for, a straight down the line kind of guy with future plans for the club, which at present isn't fulfilling it's potential on the pitch. Money available to spend too, as opposed to his current chairman consistently selling his best players and pretty much undermining him. Everyone else around Bournemouth are strengthening their teams, not selling their best players. Sheffield Wednesday have got cash to spend and are already flexing their muscles in the market, whilst other clubs are sniffing round for reinforcements.

Forget yesterdays result, SP and ML etc would have painted him their vision for the club and that in my mind shows how quality our consortium is. To get him to think so hard about it shows people are comfortable with them and that fills me with confidence.

Whatever he decides I respect him 100%. If he stays there, fair play to him. If he comes here, I think he'll be immense for us and I would personally love it if he did and I know he'd get a great welcome and continued support. I expect all this suspense to be over tomorrow either way. However, a move to Charlton will see my respect for him fall to about 0.1% +o(

Odds on Howe for the palace job 1/2, for the Charlton job 5/6.

Thats with Sky B..... Victor Chandler, Howe to Palace 1/3, to Charlton 11/10.

Guy on the BBS has posted the following this morning. Make of it what you will.

"morning guys. just thought i would all let you know that i spoke to 2 very good sources whilst out whom are both conected to bournemouth AFC. they have told me that Eddie howe will not be coming to palace, due to financial reasons, not enough money being offered, state of the squad and also position in the league. him and jason have also been offered another job which is there first choice if they do leave. sorry to be the bearer of bad news."

This may be a bit of a small point but if you listen to the tone of this poster's 'news' it all seems slightly false and in my view smug. 'Morning guys' is an example (just a feeling) and the fact that our squad has potential as others have already mentioned. Take it with a pinch of salt. Could be a Bournmouth fan posting or even just an inaccurate source from a Palace fan. It could also be a Scumwall/Clowns fan having a cheap laugh.

I totally understand. And if he decides against coming here I really hope he stays with you guys.

Maybe I'm being rather presumptuous here, but personally I would be more forgiving if a Palace manager moved up a division, as opposed to a team in the promotion mix with us in the same league. If he were to move to Charlton would this be the general opinion from your fans do you think?

Not that I'm suggesting for one minute you'd would be overly chuffed with either!!
