I would have to disagree for 2 reasons: 1 Trump is all about isolationism, and MAGA not international geo-political issues. 2 Trump had an admiration of Putin that was eye wateringly cringing. Actually just thought of a potential third involving a Russian hotel room, need I say more.

Look there's no real point us discussing this, you want to see the world how you want it to be and no one's going to convince you otherwise. As my point has nothing at all to do with how I, or anyone else, "sees the world", this misses the point completely. Which is far from unusual. The time for reflection and lesson learning comes when this is all over, and we need to consider how to avoid a tyrant ever being able to create this much mayhem. Now is the time to show unity and resolve and not to feed scraps to the enemy.

Been good this morning to see Biden giving his support to the Iranian people. I had no idea Russia had invaded them too! Always reassuring to see somebody with the cerebral capacity of a drunk toddler in charge of the 'free world'.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

He might as well be supporting Australians, Peruvians or Pomeranians.

Can everyone please just stop criticising as per his directive. In these dangerous times there is one voice that needs to be listened to....... Edited by HKOwen (02 Mar 2022 1.03am) What's foolish is to imagine that you won't treat even this most serious of subjects seriously, but will still resort to silly personal insults. Is nothing beneath you? I haven't suggested that people shouldn't think whatever they like. What I am suggesting is they show self-restraint and avoid posting anything that could provide succour to an enemy, in the same way Tucker Carlson has. Whilst comments on the Hol are extremely unlikely to find their way into Russia there is a principal at stake which needs, in my view, to be adopted by us all.

Ukraine was invaded and that is rightly the focus.

Absolutely right. This tyrant wants nothing more than total domination in Ukraine, whatever the cost in casualties,over-throwing the Government and installing a puppet regime. If his forces are not dominating on the ground as he had expected he will simply introduce more deadly firepower and he will simply not voluntarily agree to a ceasefire and withdraw his troops as this would be seen as a total defeat. The only way in which this madness is stopped is for him to be overthrown or be assassinated.
I agree 100%. Discussions over how to avoid this ever happening again, and how it did this time, must be postponed until this is achieved. It's both diversionary and dangerous to do so now.

Experts would disagree because when it comes to negotiations and agreements with Russia and/or Putin it’s crucial their angle is understood and to understand that you have to understand how it’s got to this over recent decades. Unfortunately as it’s Russia and Putin how he is now this is what’s required. Further, both sides can’t come out of talks defeated. Experts quietly considering negotiation strategies is very different from public debate which undermines resolve and diverts attention. I have no doubt this is all being carefully studied and is probably why the sanctions have been done in the way they have, when they were.
