And even with us, problems being that post Brexit, the government just finds another way to rejig the system to keep immigration coming thick and fast. Just more often from outside of EU countries. Immigration from outside the EU has an element of control, unlike freedom of movement.

A concern all along was that they'd just exchange EU immigration for non EU and eventually in similar numbers, so essentially make the situation more pronounced. I guess with such big changes in Brexit and Covid it will take some time to actually get a handle on what their vision is fo the country (since it's often so different to that of those voting for them).

91,000 civil servants to go So that’s all good, now that the oven ready Brexit deal is in full swing It’s not as though there have been any issues of resourcing for HMRC, DWP, DVLA, Passport Office etc etc etc

They then get excellent pensions.

Edited by georgenorman (13 May 2022 9.30am) Having waited 3 1/2 years for HMRC to process a very simple tax return and give me a refund, I know about efficiency all too well. But don't worry, Jacob Rees-Mogg is going to have them all return to the office. So humour me here. How will removing 91,000 posts improve efficiency and reduce incompetence? Asking for a friend.

The proposal seems to be allowing the average 38,000 retirements and leavers per year cut the head count over 3 years. The Civil Service needs a complete overhaul, far too many passengers. Cab you believe senior civil servants not only want to not come to the the office they want permission to work from abroad, presumably in their French second homes
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
